Cutting Fulltime Employees Hours

Over the past 6 months I've had my hours cut every week. As a fulltime employee I've went from 45 hours on the average to 24 hours this week. I understand cutting out the overtime but working a fulltime employee less than 35 hours is insane. Last week I only got 30 hours. I'm usually in the top 3 in sales dollars for my store but I guess it's true. They want to get rid of the fulltime employees that make a decent pay rate to replace them with 2 or 3 part time employees. I've worked for Advance for almost 10 years and this is how they are going to treat me? I asked my GM about it and he says it came from the DM to cut payroll. Well I'll be looking to the competition for employment and I do have something to offer them because my customers will follow me because it's not hard to out price and out service this lousy company.

When ALL of the useless CAM positions are eliminated, the bonuses for the DMs and up are eliminated, the extraordinarily horrible Point of Sale with its tediously slow ordering process is either eliminated or replaced, AND inventory is readily available in at least the DC, THEN you will see Advance return. Until then, don't hold your breath because it us just preaching to the choir.

I’m part time at advance auto and all summer long I was getting almost 39 hours per week! All the sudden when September came, I’m only getting between 11 and 13 hours per week! There’s no way in hell I can pay my bills with that! Does anyone think this will change anytime soon or should I start seeking work elsewhere ? (not that I already haven’t)

I am a fellow auto parts commercial specialist working at another company. All I can say is I know your frustration! I have been working for the same company (recently bought out) for 26 years. My hours were 45 and now being cut to 35 a week. We are on the front lines risking our health and our families. Full time should be 40 hours! I am grateful for a job but its getting a little frustrating to say the least! If the company wants to save money, reduce store hours (8-6) and close Sundays!

I left my Ft position when my hours were consistently dropping. Went to a competitor and couldn’t be happier working for a real parts supplier. Got all my hours back and a raise. Life is good without advance!

Somebody better tell my GM and DM about this. They don't seem to understand!

Holding my breath. Expecting cuts every new schedule. Nothing yet, but expecting it any time, already staffing at record lows, lost 2 full-time positions replaced them with partime 20-25 hrs. Guess we could do without last 3 full time positions, cpp rpp agm n gm. Hearing rumors of them cutting all agm positions. They hired outside company 2 handle planograms, but finding there work is a mess n stores are just redo things themselves. Been waiting almost a month for our detailing isle be reset. Maybe get it done b4 fall??

Yeah I've been cut to 30 to 32 hours a week and I'm full time. And they expect us to be loyal to this company. They are trying to get rid of the full time employees and replace us with cheaper part time people. All I can say is I hope this company reaps what it sows.

Once the cams are cut, some hours will be returned to the stores.

It's all about the money, looks as if Advance is attempting to only have the GM and CPP as fulltime and fill the rest of the time slots with underpaid, unknowledgeable, unmotivated, undependable, part timers to save all the precious money providing sick days or vacation time to other full timers. This has been happening for several years already and we all know this company is on a downward spiral, might be a good time to get out.
