Thread regarding Sears layoffs

The Layoff

Well this page is mostly people complaining about how bad Sears most of the time instead of commenting about up coming layoffs but here is the chance to change this. All Kmart store managers will be in meetings on Tuesday with layoffs happening probably Thursday or Friday. Lots of rumors that all fulltimers gone and assistants gone. Whats the truth? Someone knows.

Just remember, It will always be "business as usual" until it isn't. They will continue to roll out programs, etc because that is their job until they are told otherwise.

This blog has been spot on thus far, last year they talked about a meeting in the Northeast in the city for store managers and they in fact had such a meeting....our store manager went and came back and cut two positions. The problem with thus company is not ASM and Full Time positions, it's some Store Managers, DM's and above! We are too "top heavy" ! Do we need a regional VP telling us to clean shelves and push freight....the amount of money they are spending on those salaries and travel expenses is crazy, cut more of those positions! Sending SMIT's to the Store Manager academy in Chicago is costly. Our sales are tanking, yet we are currently doing "Clean and Bright" cleaning the offices...lounge and so on. We should be merchandising...looking for sales...

@ktb Thats one of the biggest problems as well so many high positions and so many low tier positions that just keep getting cut. Our store has 1 SM and 3 ASM making good money yet the last time we got cuts are the following. From Hardlines FT to Softlines MCA's FT time cut and FT lead cut. Yet managers positions don't get cut just awaiting for what this month is going to bring in cuts in our store.

As you said OP so many layers of management that make good $$$ and they won't get cut.

I am a store manager for Kmart and have no meeting Tuesday. Op you’re talking “fake news”. And yes, I’m not a closing store and work in the Maryland, dc, va and Delaware area.

Oh that’s going to work out well with just part timers 🙄 NOT!!

I could think of some higher ups that could be cut to part time .. like the DM and who they report to!

Too many unnessary layers of management above the store manager

Full time associates are not the problem with this company

Dont take this the wrong way but f--- the fulltimers and asms they are getting golden parachutes out of this hell hole. There is no f---ing way we can run a store with partiners. Shut the f---ing company down.

Full time associates are done in this company and All assistant management gone as well. A package or take a pay cut. A big pay cut. Happening after meetings on Tuesday. Good luck to all the full timers and may luck be granted to the stores being run by part timers.
