Thread regarding Windstream Corp. layoffs

Personal advice

I work in a department. We had a meeting on Tuesday that stated that our department would have backflow help from another department in a different state. Our group is training them this next week. Did we just train our replacements? Did any other department do this before laying off their workforce? I need this job. They made it sound all good, but the back part of my mind is thinking otherwise. Advice anyone.

I worked for Windstream twice. Helped train my replacements twice in 2 different departments. Layoffs followed both times. It doesn’t sound promising and they always make it sound reasonable.

Been there, done that. My former department trained replacements in India. I would start looking.

Unfortunately, you know the answer to your question . Yes, you did and are training your replacements. Management doesn't seem to have an ounce of integrity or self respect. In the end, they are just peons with no control who just want to keep their jobs too. But unfortunately, they will keep their jobs before you get to keep yours. You are the sacrificial lamb. Make the most of your time right now and work on your resume. It's even fair that you do it on company hours. Because you will look back and be able to connect the dots with perfect clarity. Best of luck and be proactive in looking out for yourself and your family. Windstream is not the same company that Paetec was.

The best time to get a new job is when you have one already. That’s always the best time- when you are in the drivers seat. Don’t let them choose your destiny and force you to wonder each day. So many better choices out there.

I agree with last person, your days are numbered. At win it is not IF get let go, but when. Be proactive and start job hunting. We all need our job but need to accept what we can not change.
