Thread regarding Pearson PLC layoffs

Manager Movement

We are beginning to see movement of managers to phony positions with obviously inflated titles. What does everyone make of this?

With all the complaints that people have sent to HR, it's crazy that people like C.A. just get shuffled around and not fired. Yet poor reps who have no control over bookstore orders or the massive sell offs get fired all the time. HR is a joke here. There should be a lawsuit against the HR department for the safe space they provide these managers.

In addition to these fake titles, there are a lot of good ole boy's job lingering around. Really, does Pearson need a VP Global Creative Strategy and Services. It sounds to me someone who records videos on their phones and uploads them on a website but gets paid a six figure salary. Or Senior VP Higher Education services? Services? What services? It's a joke of an organization. Glad to see some posts as it's been quiet here lately. Sounds like change is right around the corner. Hope the resumes are updated!

I remember seeing a Director moved to "Special Projects".

That individual is now gone, laid off.

Are we finally addressing our toxic culture problem?

My guess is so former RM, C.A., no longer has people reporting to her. She’s a lawsuit waiting to happen. Well, another lawsuit waiting to happen.

This happened in my region with the RM that is often mentioned on this site. I really hope they are trying to push her out. She deserves it.

In 2015-6, I saw restructuring with some managers moved around in the org chart and/or given vague titles (Director of blah de blah). Or other managers with seemingly less and less to do.Those people are no longer at Pearson (layoffs or just left). A big tell IMO is if they no longer have staff reporting into them. Finally, January tends to be the annual layoff month at Pearson. I would expect layoffs by the end of the month in preparation for 2018. Just my 2 cents.

Last thought, phony positions/titles could have been negotiated by managers (on the way out) in an attempt to make their resumes look inflated (when all they do is web surf). Would not be surprised.
