I received confirmation (off the record) today that a cut is in the works, from someone at the Director level, but no other info as far as timing or package details. Sounds like soon though, so probably the usual January RA. I wonder if it's 3 months zombie time or 30 days. Based on the 45 day consultancy notifications in Europe timing, that would land on Fri Jan 12. Anyone else have any information on this one?

If that is the current management attitude toward sensitive information, nobody should tell their manager a damn thing
1otj - yup, happened to me twice. not all the details but it opened up the conversation. gave the manager an out to say i already knew if she ever had to.
So here's the conversation:
YOU: Are there layoffs in the works?
MANAGER: I can't say.
YOU: But an anonymous person on a website says it's confirmed!
MANAGER: Oh, well in that case, here's the whole story......

The post wasn't "they're thinking about layoffs" but "there is definitely a layoff in the works" i.e. coming very soon. That's helpful to me, as I can then ask my manager and others about it. My manager is more forthcoming once I have established that I know from other sources. She just doesn't want to be the one to say it, but once I know she opens up.
"Lazy entitled person?" Really? I actually do want information, but the problem is the OP didn't have any. "They're thinking about layoffs" is no more meaningful that "water is wet."
It was posted in hopes that a little bit of confirmed info is better than nothing, perhaps to get others to check around, maybe ask their peers or managers, and chime in what they know. Not really in the spirit of some lazy entitled person sitting back and saying "Come back when you have specifics."

I'm the original poster and I'm in the US. But we know that they're going to happen in UK and Ireland I think it was, where the consultancy notices were issued a while back per the laws there.
Which country are you referring to?
