More Sears and Kmart stores closing in March and April

I'm not sure if these are the same as the ones already posted, but those say they are closing in February, and this article has closing dates for these 100+ stores as March and April.

Either way it's bad.

@fpw-- Government has no control over how many people are let go or how many stores close. Government can give incentives (lower taxes, land) for a business to stay in an area, employ a certain amount of people, bring in tourist etc. Government can also make regulations so that businesses sell safe products, don't pollute the environment etc. But businesses are in business to make money for investors (shareholders). In the case of SHC the majority shareholder is one-- Eddie Lampert.

And while I like to get tax cuts as much as the next person the only people that have ever given me a job and a pay check is the government or a business.

If you want government to control all business this is called socialism or communism. Look at history to see how that has worked out. Capitalism while not perfect is still the best idea around. Let the market decide.

@R5ARusY-fpw, SHC /Kmart is so far gone down the chunk hole that the new tax cut just passed in December 2017 isn’t going to help in any way possible.

It's the same list. 39 Sears + 64 Kmarts = 103. http://searsholdings.com/docs/010418-store-closing-list.pdf

Guys don't fall for the sarcasm and let it upset you. Of course it's awful when anyone loses their job.

[-fpw] Pretty sure that's all the same stores, yes.

Love how they're giving the public the impression that "employees will receive severance pay" when my guess is that will inevitably ONLY go to full-timers, right? And who wants to apply at other Kmarts or Sears when it's just a matter of time when they'll die too.

Why is it bad? Because in a country with a goverment that tries to go on about "saving jobs" and a tax cut that is set to benefit companies, this crap happens and they couldn't care less.

@ctf - Because the deplorable situation with SHLD is considered more serious than being a ignorant troll, like yourself!
