Thread regarding Follett layoffs

The definition of harassment...Anybody out there feeling harassed???? I feel like I am being forced to leave my position, are you?

(either harris-meant or huh-rass-meant) n. the act of systematic and/or continued unwanted and annoying actions of one party or a group, including threats and demands. The purposes may vary, including racial prejudice, personal malice, an attempt to force someone to quit a job or grant s-xual favors, apply illegal pressure to collect a bill, or merely gain sadistic pleasure from making someone fearful or anxious. Such activities may be the basis for a lawsuit if due to discrimination based on race or s-x, a violation on the statutory limitations on collection agencies, involve revenge by an ex-spouse, or be shown to be a form of blackmail ("I'll stop bothering you, if you'll go to bed with me"). The victim may file a petition for a "stay away" (restraining) order, intended to prevent contact by the offensive party. A systematic pattern of harassment by an employee against another worker may subject the employer to a lawsuit for failure to protect the worker. (See: harass, s-xual harassment)

Ah yes, unrealistic expectations, changes in job descriptions, yet not in the job itself, consistently understaffed.....just some of the wonderful examples of conditions under the new regime.

Document everything. However, it's unlikely a lawyer will take a case without a memo from the company telling to abuser to abuse. Been through it.

You're unsure it's happenning to you? If you've been with the company at least 10 years. Is your pay high relative to others in your store (or the starting wage for which they could hire someone). Are you atached to the store you're at.

If you've answered yes to one or more of these quesitons, it's likely you're being harrassed and abused into quitting or into a position where you can be documented as a poor performer. Then you'll be fired.

Folks follett is a terrible company. You're entitled to nothing. If they're taking the time to run you out, they're not going to pay a severance if they don't have to. Unless you have physical evidence that they were abusing you, they won't have to. Your best play is to play elsewhere.

just the stress alone, waiting for your number to be called. No compassion. No appreciation.

Meanwhile, if a store manager wants to fire an employee for performance we have to document, write them up, give warning after warning. All to protect the company to not get sued.

How is it it is ok for them to do?

Forced how? I just feel like I am systematically set up to fail and budgets are intentionally set to be unreachable. It's like a donkey with a carrot dangling in front of his nose. Just get the carrot and you can have your bonus. Can't get it, huh? Maybe next year. Meanwhile, continue to enjoy your subpar salary which hasn't increased in 5 years.
