Anybody dealt with AT&T HR before? Are they useful? I'm considering filing a complaint with them, but I'm scared I might inadvertently end up making things worse for myself, considering that most of the stories you hear about HR end up being horror stories for the person calling out their manager.

HR, what is that? Working for a subsidiary of AT&T there is no HR to go to. There is 1 person everyone is referred to but he only responds if you are of higher management.
I was surplused as a supposed title, function, MPP, and contribution to company however my management team was NEVER contacted for input on any of these. My affirmation of my job title indicated my job title was less than a 30% match. My manager wouldn't change my title and HR didn't do anything to assist.
I was a high contributor who is being replaced by 3 resouces. I've lost all respect for AT&T and will have all 33 members of my extended family change carrier.
HR Won’t do sh--. They’ll investigate, question everyone [everyone says idk..] and drop it.
I had a case with them and it had to do with an accommodation request - it was handled well and promptly - in my case it was #gold and #professional - cannot comment about other stuff - it seems that many other folks #haveissues

The feds, the state or a personal attorney. Do not trust HR.
Do NOT take your complaints to ANY internal AT&T department. They only look out for the interests of the company. File a federal or state complaint or contact an attorney if you’re seeking legal options.
Correction: EEOC (NOT ERIC) 800-669-4000
FYI THE NUMBER 888-871-2622 THEY LISTED IS AT&T INTERNAL NUMBER. THE NUMBER FOR ERIC IS 800-669-4000
I had multiple reasons to file with witnesses and proof. Filed a grievance first and went nowhere because union said it would have for my co-workers in trouble also. Finally told me to contact HE ethics but after thinking about it long and hard decided against it. Just like security they are there for company interest not to protect you (but to protect company from lawsuits) do your research and if you have good case contact EEOC or outside agency not HR.
I think the question is why do you want to file a complaint? If you try to file just to file it will be worse. You need to have a legit reason and it better be documented otherwise it’s your word against theirs. In my store a coworker filed a complaint against manager because he kept getting coached for good reason but he felt he was being picked on. I was like, if you do your job right they wouldn’t even be talking to you.
Don’t call T eeoc .. if you are being discriminated by being in a protected class (BLk, Hispanic, g--, le---an, disabled, older person, etc) file a FEDERAL EEOC compliant . T eeoc is bias and they hide their tracks.
Don’t do it .. you will get retaliated against . They will find a way to fire you or make you appear incompetent.
You call EEO, protects you from retaliation, and is anonymous.

What type of issue are you having? Are you in retaiil or call center?
When I did i was retaliated against.
Don’t you will be labeled
About as useull as a T.t on a boar hog. Wont give straight answers. For them they say it's up to leadership and for leadership, they say it's up to HR.
If you are white don't waste your time, they won't help you.
