Can DXC's HR be trusted to do the right thing or do they always side with the manager? It'd be nice to know before I get myself into a "no turning back" situation.

With the p--n mag, all you had to do was look away. It was in his space and if you didn't like what you saw.
Tell the person and look away. Grow up!
Reading some comments on here you can see how Weinstein got away with it for so long. Neanderthals. You deserve dxc.
@OP: The harassment case should contain harassment, not reading a magazine. As long as the magazine was not handed over to you, there is no harassment involved.
Probably, you feel you are entitled to be the only person sitting on the floor because you might be able to see guys d--ks thru tight pants.
But your case is not a case at all. After all you will be targeted and will lose your job as well.
I agree with most of the comments about HR protecting management and company first but for s-xual harassment issues, if you can prove, they should help you especially with the recent claims which have been on news recently. If you feel you're being harassed, report it. If you don't feel you're being heard, then hire a lawyer. Good luck!
I only every known one good HR person in the company and that is a very rare occurence, as we all know. But she knew her stuff; never took sides but was fair to both and even put the managers in their place once or twice! But she left once the rot set it.
All the HR folks (now 'partners') appear to be useless and give the strong impression of being incompetent or perhaps unable to cope with the massive influx of work! I left with the impression that it must be company policy to retain incapable people to ensure they act only as figureheads for Mikey's evil Deathstar plans, whilst most of the Human Remains (HR) storm-troopers are off-shored to low-cost outposts.
HR are legal bound to respond to your case and you will need to keep records of time, dates - but I am afraid without evidence, it will be down to the offender's manager (rather than an objective manager) and will depend on their relationship with them or you. Pretty cr*p process.
The best advice I can give - and I mean this genuinely - is to LEAVE THE COMPANY for your own sake and possibly safety.
you are being paid to work your arse off not to sue your management colleagues. hr will definitely not accept your case as it is prima facie meaningless.
those in HR are the biggest arse!
The p--n magazine was for you to enjoy.. and maybe his c--- as well. if you didnt want to have the lolipop then you should have simply looked the other way.
Trying to claim money for looking at someones magazine or at someones c--- does not make sense.
never trust them to do the right thing. you cannot trust them.
i can speak from experience that they are in fact violating labor laws and should be investigated for their practices. horrible place
HR is as useless as tits on a boar. They exist ONLY to protect the company.
When I was up for WFR HR refused to speak to me. They were told by management not to answer my emails. So not difficult to guess whose side they are on.
First consult lawyer. They can give a nonpartisan perspective and tell you what kind of case if any that you may have.
It stinks. Plan for your departure whilst collecting a salary.
HR exist only to protect the company - they're not there to help you.
No - just leave
Happened to me as a newbie in a poisoned account. The people there had history of not wanting new people to upset their cushy number (which was why I was dunped there?).
After a few months of suffering general unhelfulness, it started to get worse. On one occasion, I returned from holiday to see my desk had been removed. However they "got" me in the end. A man sitting near me started to hold a folded p--n magazine at lunchtime. He made sure I could see the picture and it looked like me in a disgusting pose.
Even though this was an open office, "no-one else saw the harresment" and despite complaints, I had to leave the account because it coudl not be proved. It still makes me angry to this day.
for something that serious I personally would get legal advice before doing anything
Forgot to say, it's s-xual harassment issue.
