Don't feel sorry for the 600. In the long run those who are laid off are the lucky ones.
600 is a pretty small percentage of Seagates workforce worldwide.To be honest i thought the number would be alot higher.You got to feel sorry for the 600 that will be RIFed.
Layoffs are coming
To reduce costs, Seagate said it would lay off 600 employees, which could save the company about $90 million. This is a continuation of a trend. Last July, Seagate said it would lay off 6,500 workers over 2016.

Layoffs in Cupertino have already started. 600 number is company wide. Merry Christmas.

Yep. I think in Dec yet. Good luck to managers rolling the ever larger boulder uphill after this one. The 1 or 2 guys left are probably looking to leave you too. I hope you are good at creating fake ppts will accomplishing nothing but buying time.

HAMR reliability is an oxymoron. Assuming that Seagate will ship HAMR drives sometime this century, reliability testing will not prevent the inherently unreliable
drives in question from making it into the HDD reliability hall of shame -- wonder why WD ditched HAMR ??...must be strong aversion to market share growth, right??
Since when was it in a Seagate business plan to test a product for reliability? It costs too much, slows immediate profits, so don't do it. Duh.
Yep. They are that stupid. They are cutting into operational ability now. The last one had a definite impact with slowing the ability of business processes to run well. Another big one will seriously hamper the business. The corners are going to be cut. Standards will be thrown out the window. HAMR will ship without being tested for reliability.
