Intel confirms chips vulnerable to remote hacking

Any thoughts on why Intel let this happen? The chips noted in the article include the flagship processors... (quote below).

"Affected chips include the 6th, 7th and 8th generation Core family, three Xeon processors, and Apollo Lake Atom and Pentium."

I like how Intel announces this the day before Thanksgiving - similar to how the Directors and VPs usually announce bad news internally on Fridays... Which seems to happen more often.

AMT is the core of the frivolous vPro brand, which charges businesses more for the same silicon to include a remotely management backdoor. It's one of those useless built-in Intel features most people pay for but never turn on. Those who did now have a few surprising holiday gifts to deal with.

I'm a little surprised. Even if the executives don't know how to design chips, they should understand the need to conduct extensive testing and validation... If this news was for Apple or any other tech company it would be front page news. Since it is Intel it seems like no one cares or is surprised. This is another sign of a declining company.

No surprises there, as Intel has been cutting costs and corners in validation quality for the sake of schedule, for many years now.
