Thread regarding Sears layoffs

Shoe stock room overflowing

How are the other Sears stores doing for inventory or is it just my store. the last 6 trucks have been loaded with shoes, the stock room looks like the old days with shoes covering almost every shelf in the back room with the floor covered with tables also packed with shoes and boots.Seems like they are cleaning out the warehouses and dumping it into our store. Does any other sears store having the same problem?

I'm guessing "sp triggered" was a typo for "so triggered", fwiw.

@2mkf What does "sp triggered" mean? I am not deflecting anything. We have a really good head of our footwear department now. He is a good man who cares about the associates. The last two leaders were "iffy" at best, but today our head of footwear is a kind and very intelligent man. I don't know the head of inventory as he heads up multiple departments, but the woman who works on our floor tries as best as she can.

I am sensitive because it's awful when people come on here and talk bad about current associates. That is just wrong. I am fine. And I will be fine regardless of what happens to Sears as I don't have an issue with doing any sort of job. I am also on here as I like to see what people have to say. I guess I feel bad that there are so many out there who feel Sears has "wronged" them in some way. But when people start talking "trash" about hard working associates who are good people well then yes I have to say something. Not about myself as I have no complaints about anything right now at work.

"And why now that you have a new job are you still hanging out on the Sears Holdings The Layoff?"

And why are YOU deflecting and trying to justify the incompetent leadership of the Footwear BU?

Why are you sp triggered? If things are going so great you wouldn't be so sensitive......And those January Clearance numbers? Enjoy! They will now be a part of the total SHC liquidation event.

@1eia You are avoiding what I am saying. The folks you are insulting are those you hired/trained or worked alongside. Why on earth would you do that? I also don't understand why you keep saying the same thing about clearance numbers. What is it to me personally? It isn't.

And why now that you have a new job are you still hanging out on the Sears Holdings The Layoff? That doesn't make sense to me. I never understand those who are bitter. When things end, you simply move on. Obviously you are better than anyone who is still there, so why not just move on and enjoy your new wonderful job?

@1zxd in our store men's work boots sell pretty damn well. I guess we just don't have a lot of competition on that area, but the problem is the limitation of hours is horrible. Close to holidays and getting so much truck we can just do so much. We basically have to ignore the customers and just do truck to try to process the truck. Its gotten to a point that it just makes you want to quit. I never seen footwear this bad in hours we always got a solid amount of hours especially this time around.

Just to add I hate how hours are based on sales... well we are actually selling we are actually in the green can assume because last year we didn't sell other departments are in the red yet we get hour cuts and worse of all manager in charge of our department doesn't give us the full hours she takes some for their softlines.

" I don't understand why you would insult people you might have hired and trained in the past or at least worked alongside?"

When is the last time Footwear made comp sales or a profit???

Enjoy those January Clearance numbers!

In all my 5 years working I never seen so much truck. We are hammered our floor is almost packed, but than our damn stock room is filled like crazy. Thank god we got 0's already, but that was still not enough to take out our junk. A lot of the stuff we got won't sell since the hours are limited and we can do just so much.

I feel lots of this extra truck has to do with stores closing and sending them their stuff, or as someone said clearing out warehouses and use the actual footwear stock room.

If that's the case with my store (don't work in shoes so no idea), at least I bought a pair yesterday and relieved it of a box. :)

But if they send us ANY more kids coats, I swear to god... Because that too is ridiculous.

Also I am guessing you used to work in footwear inventory? There are at least 6 people who used to work with you and were probably trained by you who still work on the inventory team.....so they are experienced in inventory. The footwear head has worked in the footwear industry for over 20 years so once again very experienced. I don't understand why you would insult people you might have hired and trained in the past or at least worked alongside?

That isn't the case now. It is a shame when there are layoffs as it is never right, but it is what it is.

I don't understand why you are so "passionate" about this. Do you feel you were wronged in some way?

Wanna bet? I worked there for 8 years and saw the erosion of talent and institutional knowledge get laid-off and replaced with inexperienced buffoons. We went from being the second most profitable division in the house to double-digit decreases. Looking forward to your January Clearance numbers.... Enjoy!

Corporate got rid of virtually all seasoned management in Footwear, the rest jumped shipped.Footwear is being run not even by the B squad, but the C squad of bozos who don't know the first thing about inventory and allocation. They changed warehouses back in June so that poor excuse doesn't hold water.

They are changing shoe warehouses from what I heard. A lot of shoes that were supposed to come in the first week of December are EARLY.

We have been slammed, shoes, Samsung tv’s, and other unusual electronics, kitchenaid up the wazoo. It’s very unusual for us to have so much product, thankfully the blowout has us busier than we’ve been in ten years.
