It's not even close. Your sole motivation would have to be the cost to choose Altice. But if quality/ speed mean anything to you, you'll pay the extra few bucks for FIOS.

Fios now has Fios one (main box/mini box) and its much more responsive than Altice one. Fios also has news 12 and news 12+ now (formerly news 12 traffic and weather).
It’s different than the Altice one boxes. Those are all in one (router, phone jack, Ethernet jacks built in) .. and made by Sagecomm. The Fios ones are made by Arris.
You still get a sepeate ONT and router with FiOS.

The Optimum’s Altice One is KING!
Made the switch back to Optimum 3 months ago and will never go back to Fios.
-Much better WiFi throughout my home, Fios could not reach my basement nor could it hit my back bedroom.
-4K Box, now I can watch 4K content on my 4K TV, picture quality is 10x better then what Fios offered me.
-Bluetooth and voice activated remote!!! This is awesome, coolest thing to come to TV!
I found myself almost never watching my Fios TV, spent most of my time on Netflix and AMZ Prime.
Thought regular cable channels didn’t have content I liked.
All that changed once I got the A1 installed.
-Big bold colorful thumbnails gave me a clear picture of all that cable TV had to offer. It felt like I was navigating on a Netflix platform and not a Fios excel spreadsheet. Started finding shows I’d forgot about plus started finding some awesome new ones too.
-Bluetooth remote that’s voice activated. With built in BT you no longer need to point the remote at the box to change the channel. So I hid my box behind the TV (my setup looks pretty slick now). Voice activated remote is a game changer, just say “Put on Giants game” boom it goes on, “search nature shows” boom a full list of all nature programming pops up.
-Fios is stuck in the Stone Age with there 1k cable boxes vs the 4K the A1 offers. I Bought a 4K tv 1 year ago, was disappointed when I brought it home only to discover that it looked 10x better at the store. Had no idea that I needed a 4K cable box to get that Top quality picture. After the A1 install I thought I got a brand new TV, picture quality looks amazing.
I totally love it, plus I have an account manager Named Nick M that I call when ever I have questions or problems. He singed me up for the service, came over after the install to walk me through all the cool new features and he has my back whenever I need him.
Never going back to Fios!!
Fios has terrible customer service. Just wait until you discover how incompetent they are!
Also most of optimum is UNDER staffed
T s g, leads, techs etc .
Vz doesn't have this issue as they are union employees and have good pay and guaranteed pay raises etc
Not this 20 cent raise B S that altice gives employees
I truly don't understand how anyone can choose cable over fiber beyond pricing .
Opt usually will bend pricing a lot to win back customers but the reailability is poor.
You won't believe how many opt customers call in during or after install because of issues slow speeds , internet completly down requiring a repeat T/C.
Pools constantly closed is also a huge issue . I think everyday a pool was closed in Corp 36 or other corps too .
Cable is completely un reliable
I had fios for 5 years 0 issues even during 30 inch snow storm .
Customers constantly called in saying every time it rains they loose service (including broadband) ... is this cable or sat internet lol
Don't get me started on the teriable optimum routers . It's so bad reps don't even recommend it they recommend 2 customers purchase your own #facts
Fios router is a lot better . When 1 box works it will finally have better range
fios position is only for three years
I'd go for what's cheaper or works better. I have no problem with my optimum service. i don't need anything more on upload or download. I'd still have 15/5 if I had to pay for it never had an issue with that gaming or general use. My tv service is fine although the interface/guide is pretty half a--. It is only a matter of time that the plant starts failing more and more. Can barely get any parts to put it back together. I'd love to see what happens if a sandy or Irene happened again. I don't think we have enough fittings to put the plant back together.
FiOS is hiring plant technicians for network build outs as we speak.
If you're only looking at it from a quality/speed perspective, you're absolutely correct, however, if you're looking at it from a more general perspective, you have to consider other extenuating factors.

41% of Altice's total customers (Optimum/Suddenlink) are concentrated into only 4 areas (Bronx, Brooklyn, Long Island, Hudson Valley)
-
If you were to check out Verizon Fios availability site, you'll find that fios is not available across a large region of NYC where Altice is already fully penetrated.
-
Simply put, many "sane" customers would jump at the opportunity to get Fios Triple Play and receive a gigabit connection for $79.99/month but they can't.
-
Please take notice to where Altice has been laying their fiber..... areas where fios already is... is that a coincidence?

In the end, Generation Gigaspeed won't amount to much if their stock price keeps tanking. (ATUS closed @ 21.90)
