Thread regarding Mattel Inc. layoffs

Not strategy but attitude

It’s not a strategy problem, it’s an attitude problem. It’s easy to point fingers at management when things are down. However, there is no “I” in team. Therefore all of you are accountable. Always remember, winning attitude brings winning results.

Please, guys, no real names. Kindly refer to him as Upchuck Scrotom in the future, to avoid confusion with the previous CEO. Thanks!

Barbie Hologram still coming out this year, they just delayed the release to iron out some bugs.

From ABC News-

Mattel's Hello Barbie Hologram, a voice assistant paired with a "walking, talking, and dancing" Barbie character projection, will not be released as planned for the 2017 holiday season, the company said. The animated toy will be held until 2018 "due to additional testing of the platform."

Whatever happened to Hello Barbie Hologram? Wasn't that supposed to ship for Christmas last year?

Of course it's strategy, Duckhead. And smarts, and patience, and skill, and insight, and ability, and diligence, and DISCIPLINE. None of which Mattel has. Can't wait to see what cheap tricks Mattel will be touting as 'innovation" at the upcoming toy fairs. Aristotle 2018? Thingmaker 2018? Hologram Barbie 2018?

Wait until the end of the month when we report Q4 earnings and see if anyone is willing to defend our current strategy.

Interesting to see things are about the same as when I left, 4 years ago. Except I sold my stock at $40+, and now it seems to be hovering in the teens. Hope someone can save this once proud company, but not so sure.

You can tell which ones are written by pr/management not just because of the upbeat tone but because they aren’t written even how normal people speak!

It's an everything problem. C'mon Hasbro raise the offer a tiny bit and let's break the Mattel organization into pieces. Then create the greatest story ever told by showing what strategy and execution looks like when you win.

"The original poster is a troll, right?"

No. Upper Management was concerned about the negative (true) comments on this board. So they are now spending company resources to post "upbeat" comments here, to try and put a better spin on their public image.

No one if fooled by this.

Last poster: While it's possible that you have some valid points in between your six typos and grammatical errors, I simply couldn't suffer through to the end. Two mini missteaks, iff yew no wut i meen. Just curious, are you a millennial? Spell check's your friend. Clarity in communication is of paramount importance.

So upper management must have a horrible attitude because they have horrible strategy’s. 10 years of firings and new management teams and Large payouts to looser CEO’s and there cronies ... just look at there results stock price in the crapper...pointing the finger at results is fair game

Sounds like a pour strategy too me!

RD is at the core of he problem. Wrong attitude, overtly has favorites and they are usually the people who don't challenge him. Reason where we are today. Likely too late at this point with heavy debt and bankruptcy looming if Hasbro doesn't happen.

It is this mindset that has us in the position we're in. Style above substance.

If we had a winning strategy we would have a winning attitude. But we don't, so we don't.

Too many of these empty suits with their platitudes, sitting around spewing buzz words at each other in never-ending meetings is the problem. We need an actual strategy, not just a bunch of incompetents spending company time judging what employees are wearing.

So true! Moral needs to be improved by removing toxic players and promoting team players. The right teams make the right results. Identifying those with the right attitude will be a top priority heading into the New Year.
