There's been the suggestion that Target might outsource its grocery, as it's doing a very poor job on its own, at least at the PFresh stores. WFM has been speculated as a possibility.

Whether Amazon is going to buy target or not is really academic.... Amazon for all of its sales and pumped up stock price essentially has no cash, mostly because it has almost no profit after expenses. After purchasing Whole Foods they literally have no cash reserves.

Amazon market cap is 600 billion. They can easily buy Target if they wanted to. What value do they get out of a partnership? I think you are fooling yourself on that one.

I hear that amazon folks brought in to help with distribution and transportation are clueless.

Amazon would fix all of Target's logistics issues in about 15 minutes...

Target is worth about $35 billion. Whole Foods was purchased for $13 billion and that was thought of as being too expensive. Not gonna happen, but there could be some sort of partnership

Super cute. The brick and mortar store is dead....the only way to win is to buy brick and mortar. Either way I WIN!

I doubt it - Target has too big of a footprint for a takeover-meaning Amazon would lose it's non brick and mortar advantage. Next, they would have to massive restructure/downsize which would cause significant bad press. They would want a smaller retail chain that was national, but far fewer stores- similar to Wholefood's foot print.
