Thread regarding Cigna layoffs

IT Developer

Full-time for 5 + years at Cigna Healthspring. Directions from Dave Croker SVP IT/Head of IT at Cigna-Healthspring is to phase out older workers via a silent re-organization. Dave Croker envision a younger cheaper work force. After spending millions on the Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) enforced sanctions to find a remediation to Grievance and Appeals non existing process and unable to enroll Medicare members for two years has create a hostile environment. Also to let good older workers. Managers act as calculated bully even within their own circles. May be good for contract work but be careful they do not hesitate to let you on a dime.

All segments of the company is using job elimination tactics on workers 50 and older. I guess the breakup fee from the Anthem merger was not enough for the greedy Executive.

How many people or % will be targeted for elimination?

Yes, it is in all areas. I was let go because of my age and replaced by a contractor disguised as a job elimination while this contractor filled my position.

Is the phase out older worker effort just in IT, or does it apply to other areas as well, like Underwriting, Claims and Sales?
