Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

5 years under BK

Let's review what management have been saying for the last year.

  1. Security needed in chip design. Bought McAfee. Disaster!

  2. Need to dominate mobile. Bought infineon. Lost Apple. Lost $25B. Contra revenue.

  3. Wearables. Bought and destroyed many startups. Burnt customers literally and metaphorically.

  4. Custom foundry. No customers.

  5. Makers. Created show for BK ego. Built custom cpu for community. Withdrew from market.

  6. VR built headset. Called it the next big market. Withdrew from market.

  7. Bought altera to stop customers developing own chips. Google made own ASIC. Makes no money. Wasted $16B.

10nm ramp will expose all next year, why do you think BK sold all he could, and so should you 😂

The guy running the place is an idiot with limited IQ, just a Gump!

It seems we all agree about the Klown's ineptitude and falsehoods. Now, if only WS would see through his lies, we might be able to get rid of him. As long as stock price keeps riding high, the board will keep this useful idiot in place.

Add to the list "10nm by end of 201x" where x is a quantum state that can't be nailed down - usually a year out...

@2ehf - I would agree that the meritocracy ended, and there was a large degree of gender/race bias in the recent several years for hiring and promotion purposes. The other thing about loss of meritocracy was rampant fibbing when it came to accomplishments, and the willingness to throw the greater goal or one's peers under the bus for a short term gain. There was so much BS when it came to review time. If it helped themselves and undercut company or group, that seemed generally acceptable. Millions of wasted hours and even more $$ were the result.

  1. Ended meritocracy. Based hiring and promotions on gender, race, or s-xual proclivities.

This is what is called "Creative Destruction"....us mortals don't understand how "zen" this is.

....only problem is that BK has it 90% tilted towards Destruction!

McAfee is pre BK, I think. It's how Renee James made a name for herself. I don't think you can blame BK for that one.

@1dsr - McAfee was a bad move strategically, but not financially. MobilEye will be both.

McAfee was such a bad move. Oh, well...

Thanks, OP! You have summed up all of BK's failures quite nicely, and yet the Board maintains his services! Idiots.

Bozo Klown is the worst thing that could happen to Intel. Dumbest gump ever to head a Fortune 500 company. Laughing stock of the boardrooms in real tech companies.

The McAfee excursion wasn't too bad. It was also initiated by PSO/RJ. Along with BK, no one ever figured out how to integrate McAfee security with Intel CPUs, so Intel sold it off, maintaining some minority control. McAfee also had decent revenue, so this was no a big loss, if any. Altera, also, had/has ongoing revenue, and the $16B was balanced with some interesting 'Goodwill' entries in the Intel balance sheet. Mobileye might be somewhat similar, but I think their narrow product focus in a quickly evolving market and their smaller existing revenue stream when compared to ALTR or MFE will make Mobileye a much more problematic investment.

The rest, I agree, were sh*tshows.

Not sure what you mean by 'Bought infineon. Lost Apple. '. Bought the arrogance and ineffective Infineon team was clearly a mistake as demonstrated by the big losses. Spent big money and yet no significant presence in the mobile market.
