Thread regarding ConocoPhillips layoffs

Leadership Forum

In case you're wondering what the minimum compensation is for these Top 100, here it is:

Minimum base annual salary $850,000

VCIP base at least 150% of this

Guaranteed stock options

Employment contract: if either side decides to terminate, three years compensation

Option to defer compensation, with investment options (to defer salary to lower tax later years, but still earn additional income on this deferred salary).

Free financial and estate planning

Significantly better pension "grossed up" to make up for taxes

Charitable matching five times what you have

=====> Everyone of these Top 100 believe they are worth ten times this, but in fact most are actually losing value for the company. But they are compensated well.

So tell me OP, when you worked at COP, did you want to make more money? Or were you happy to just say no to raises and promotions?

If you are going to be envious of people who make more money than you, then you are in for a life of frustration.

The OP confuses SGL 21+ (start of Leadership Forum membership) with executive compensation (SGL 23+) and misses RSU's. Combined with RSU's, the minimum salary for a SGL 21 and above is about a million dollars per year; at SGL 23 and above the benefits get excessive given these folks' value losses over the last five years.

I was in the leadership forum before I retired. That 850k may be the AVERAGE if you include the ELT who are highly compensated, but I was a member and made $400-500k salary, plus 100% RSU's. Still a lot of compensation and I was grateful for it, but not the numbers you quote. I did not have a contract as you reference; was just a regular salary employee.

They're not the top 100. They're the top 100 in compensation. The top 100 in capability have long since left the building.
