Thread regarding Cenovus Energy layoffs

Another round of leyoffs

It seems like Cenovus is going to let 500-700 people go at the end of January. It is really a terrible situation especially for former Conoco employees who recently moved to Cenovus. They might be laid off again.

Several news stories mentioned CVE has 4200 employees and there would be 500-700 layoffs. Org chart in INC shows closer to 3900 employees with the recent layoffs and transitioning employees to acquiring companies. Another 100 or so in conventional will move on in the new year. The remainder to come from Deep Basin and throughout the company.

IS it additional 500-700 people in January? What about those who have been laid off since September? That number alone is upward of 300. As for ex COP employees, it was Cenouvs management decision to buy the asset, why blame the people ? Cenovus hasn’t done anything to intergarte them and thus even after 7 months of being part of Cenovus they are still labelled as ex- COP.

I wouldn’t feel to bad for the x COP people they would have been gone a year ago if it wasn’t for Cenovus buying their assets. Consider them getting an extra year of salary and now here comes the layoff package!!
