Thread regarding Altice USA (Cablevision) layoffs

Near miss

Today I had a near miss. Large line truck with ats badges driving illegally on Garden State Parkway. Do they even know it's non commercial?

Co-workers??? You are contractors. Remember how you felt when all the contractors started getting the TC's when you were in house?

Why would you rat out your own coworkers? Is someone a bit jealous? Don't give me this line of safety garbage. Grow a set look the other way and do your job.

Well, this is why it’s so easy for this shiester to run our company into the ground. We can’t fight him, when we’re ratting each other out. The ftth guys are the same guys a year ago we were working side by side with. If we were smart, we would now be standing side by side with them against the new regime. TOGETHER we could be united. APART we get increase in benefits cost, decrease in time off, no bonus, and deteriorating work conditions. We need a company UNION. Not a shop by shop, but all of our voices together to get our terms across. UNITE!

The one thing I don't miss about Cablevision, which I see on this sight everyday is the rat mentality....us FTTH guys are just busting our asses everyday, we do have quotas to meet and there will be problems with the build, my guess is about a 25% failure rate from what I've seen, we will be fixing the issues as well. Will FTTH be rolled out everywhere? Probably not. Will there be issues? Most definitely. I will however learn to make it work and ride this wave as far as it takes me. In the meantime I've been bringing home an extra 500-1200$ every paycheck since March so I guess I'm just a bootlicker.

Didn't screw themselves. They have been doing it since May no one says anything. The boss in charge over there says it's okay. The whole project is a mess. Lots of it is done unsafe. Trailer lights that don't work, trailers that don't have the safety brake cable, running cable with no placer. No one in management cares about safety as long as it gets done safe. They send any tickets they get to corporate to deal with. Trucks and trailers have been impounded and many tickets have been given.

Probably the same dude that lowered the bucket on to his partner taking a coffee break on the bumper. We'll get another stupid email any day now.

They went through E-ZPass pretty sure they screwed themselves. I'm out and definitely not jealous of cable pullers. Certainly a safety issue with a reel of fiber on the 4500 though.

DOT tricks are not allowed. Which is anything over a gvw of 10,000lbs. The bucket van is allowed. The cable placer and a 4500 aren't. Don't see it as a safety thing it's a state law to allow better traffic flow on these roadways. So near miss it is not good job ratting out fellow employees. Stick to your route buddy your just jealous of anyone picked for the project.
