Thread regarding Seagate Technology Inc. layoffs

More layoffs this week

I've been hearing and reading rumors that we can expect more layoffs this week. Anybody knows where the info came from and if it's reliable?

It takes special kind of cruelty to leave people without a job this close to Christmas, but to be completely honest, nothing really surprises me anymore when it comes to Seagate.

WTF is wrong with this company!?!

Your workers morale are closed to none now

If layoff is something they must do, why can't they just let go off all that 600 in one time!!!

Hell, I'm so afraid to go to work each day now, so afraid that one day it's gonna be my turn

BTW is it true about this 250 in Bangalore? That's almost half of the 600!!!

Hell Seagate!!!!

Nas Ne Dagoniat - isn't that more a criticism of capitalism than Seagate? By definition and legal requirement, the corporation exists to maximize shareholder value.

Shares of hard-disk drive maker Seagate Technology (STX) are down 5 cents at $40.42, in late trading, after the company disclosed in an 8-K filing with the Securities & Exchange Commission after market close this afternoon that it will let go 500 employees by June of 2018 as part of a restructuring plan in order to save $65 million annually.

Today’s announcement follows three other recent plans that had reduced the company’s total employee base by 7,400 people since July of last year. The most recent reduction, the “July 2017 Plan,” was completed in September and involved a reduction of 600 employees.

No, I can confirm the next one that I'm aware of is in January.

They'd absolutely lay you off Christmas Eve if it made financial sense. This company does not care about you, is not your family, and is going out of its way never to give raises or bonuses.

I doubt it - I've never seen this happen with 2 different rounds in 2 weeks
