Although letting-go people is a common phenomenon at TechM like any other company, 2017 was slightly different. The number is slightly higher this year and TechM is done with cleaning up Q1 to Q4, normalising their internal project team (CIO team), etc till end of August. Now it is turn of P1 and P2 - Project Managers and Senior PM's starting December '17.
Criteria to let-go is a usually simple. Anyone on bench - irrespective of 1 day or 30 days, irrespective of skillset, etc got to go. People not finishing internal trainings also tend to qualify quicker in such lists :(. I would say one must hold on to their existing projects rather than attempting to venture out - within or outside TechM.
TechM loosing projects due to multiple factors everywhere (just like other INDIAN companies). Broadly, there is 'in-sourcing' and 'cost-cutting' happening within client organisations too leading to higher pressure on vendors/suppliers like TechM.
NOTE to young professionals - if you happen to loose a job at this stage, do not panic. Stay positive, do not use abusive lingo against your peers, managers (PM/SPM/DM/CDM/IBU/IBG/CH, etc). Leave in a quite and calm fashion - remain in good books of the people you have been working for so long. No one fancy to remove you. ONLY reality in service industry is your billability.
