Thread regarding VMware Inc. layoffs

Massive layoffs coming in February 2018

Overheard a serious office conversation late Friday between high level VPs about a massive layoff next year. Multiple groups and projects will be affected.

Good luck

Yes, some Sr Directors (aka VPs wannabe) hired last 2 years are a--holes who stole credits from good workabees, worked with HR to terminate them without getting company legal liability, and and force hired their friends to replace the workabees. The SVPs didn't care about VoV and complaints. They only focus on those results that will benefit their bonuses and promotions.

I suspect the belief is Feb given it had previously been after quarter close and before earnings call.

"if you want crappy back stabbing culture, all noise - no work environment, do not believe in diversification - Just one zone from India, and yea the same salary... VMware is the place for you"

This is from some guy in other VMware thread. Sums it up well -- look elsewhere if the a--hole VP and director are giving you grief. Not worth the trip to ER with problems. I hear Citri, Nutanix, MobileIron and Microsoft are hiring ex-VMwarers for much beytyer salary. Planning to start looking seriously next week.

Economy is doing fabulous. Lots of great jobs at Google, LinkedIn, FB and others, in SV and in Bengaluru. Just got an offer from Google will delay starting till Feb, want to pay off new Tesla S :-)

You can leave the ruthless looser VP looking for other victims. Probably wants to hire contractors to fill his pockets on the side :-(

no need to waste your time, such complaints are not within charter of etica. meant only for sins committed by by lowly foot soldiers and mid-level management. vps and directors are immune to complaints. better option look for a different position or company.

lousy recent execs who only do reorgs and layoffs to cover theor own missteps will sink this great company despite having excellent products

Try: etica.ethicspoint.com. Did you ever take the rquired business integrity class? It is mentioned therein several times. Do not worry about lay offs, many start ups are eagerly hiring

Merry Christmas and God Bless y'all!

@QFuRMfN-dxvw is right. Have heard similar rumors.

@QFuRMfN-fwde. Don't you worry. Lay offs are coming. If you don't like the BU leadership and have expressed on VOV, expect to get laid off.

He is himself to blame. New VP's and Directors he has hired or promoted in the last 2 or 3 years are hard to work-with a--holes. They seldom do any meaningful work themselves, are always unavailable when we need guidance. They are screwing over peers and others to look great themselves. Agree about your QA and PM VP comments.

Total change in the last few years. Any one know how to report to executive management such obnoxious people who are creating hostile work environment? Do execs even care?

Talk is about the February layoffs. I overheard some of it today in the Palo Alto campus but did not get all the details .

Hahaha, like trickle-down Reaganomics in early 80's and oil-industry managed Bush plans did? Didn't we have the worse recession at the end of the last Republican president?

¿Does anyone know what the execs are whispering about?

How to screw worker bees and get more honey for themselves

VMWare execs are all for the new tax plan although it is bad for Americans. A significant portion of the perceived 20% savings in taxes is going to "Church of Steve Bannon is King and Narinder Modi The Disciple"
