Thread regarding DXC Technology layoffs

WFR

I have a few questions:

1) who tells you that you are WFR'd. Is it your manager or someone from HR etc. What day of the week do they do it.

2) I always read that people know they are on the WFR hit list to be WFR'd on certain dates. Does this list actually exist and if so how would one see it.

Will be interesting to know if you hear anything. I've heard nothing, and the latest Peter Hands mail seems to have removed the 12th December reply date, and replaced it with ASAP.

After I was WFR'd in April in Australia I found out that 2 permanent resources (cheap new hires) took on my role and were up to their necks in muck for several months and a p-ssed off client to manage. Now I am happily employed by a competitor.

Whether in US, India, Malaysia, UK and etc....dont lets DXC spoil your Christmas and New Year. New year is new resolution. Get a new job next year.

I agree with what was stated below. When I was a director at CSC a year or so ago they seemed to love RIFing people as soon as they returned from disability. I personally saw 2-3 cases of it in my last year.

They also really seemed to love letting people go right around the Holiday season.

And making you take vacation at year-end - even if you had none banked. They would 'generously' let you borrow (go negative on) vacation days to meet the mandate.

In my humble opinion CSC senior executives were truly a nest of thieving, immoral yes-men led by a soul-less, selfish monster. DXC seems even worse yet from what I read here. It's frightening what they are able to get away with in the US.

Leave on your own terms. Just do it. Do not wait for the hammer to fall.

Very little of it is down to the Manager.

The McKinsey list tagged every role in HPE ES to say whether the job was going or not and if it was, when. All they are doing is working down the list. If you are not on the list you won't get your VR. If you and apply for VR it's a Pyrrhic because you'd have very likely been CR'd anyway.

Your manager is on that list too.

On my account (USA) it is your direct manager and supervisor who informs you. In my department (and my sister department) you are met at the door on the day you are let go. You are escorted into a conference room and told about the lay off. You fill out your paper work and hand in your badge. You are then escorted out of the building. You are NOT permitted to go to your desk to retrieve your personal items. These items will (eventually) be mailed to you.

Nobody knows when it is coming. Morale is ungodly low and we all know we are on the list.

Just last week someone with almost 25 years was let go in my department. Yet, they just hired two new people in my department. They were temps so I can almost guarantee that they are making more money than the person being laid off! This is out-and-out discrimination. The person that was laid off was out on disability for about 3 months (cancer) and just came back about 1 1/2 months ago. They have done this kind of thing before. Don't use disability or you will be on the list for sure!

If you want to be WFR, ask your manager or top management to put you into waiting list. This is what we did in Malaysia.

Thanks for the info. I’m UK and I’ve asked for VR but we haven’t been provided with dates or the criteria that will be used for VR selection. I have no connection or rapport with my current manager (the last one I could talk to has gone). Hopefully I will get the news I’m looking for on Tuesday.

It’s sad to say, I’m long serving but I’d rather go for redundancy and rejoin the job market than continue on.

"Manager but they have processes to follow to ensure they don’t discriminate against individuals. "

That is incorrect. I've seen many times where people are laid off with no regard as to skill sets or anything. It's all about how the manager feels about you. When the manager's boss asks for x amount of heads, he will accept whoever the manager names. Reviews do not matter in the slightest.

Manager but they have processes to follow to ensure they don’t discriminate against individuals. They have to score staff and HR and the individual can challenge it.

This is why you don't piss off your manager. You could be the ace number one telecom ninja, but it is your manager who ultimately decides who stays and who goes.

Depends on the country - people in the UK are being told on the 12th December if their VR application is successful. Many will be out the door by the 15th if taking a long Xmas break.

  1. Manager unless he or she is a spineless coward, then HR.

  2. Hit Lists? lol Nope, managers are told they need to reduce their numbers by X amount (in Salary $) and it's usually up to the managers discretion to decide who is WFR'ed. No specific day or dates, everything else is just a factoid.
