There's only wireline and wireless at the front line and in financial reporting. The people that give those people jobs and work to do work for dozens of verizon affiliates and support both, and since rifs stated in landline products, we use this board. I honestly feel sorry for the union guys because I see them sitting on the side of the road waiting for their next work order or appointment and everyone that passes them thinks they're being lazy. That would definitely hurt my well-being and make me lash out here. Same goes for wireless reps that are told to upsell to people that can hardly afford food. The point of this board is to get semi reliable information to make a decision about whether or not to start a job search before the rif to minimize the gap in employment.

They shouldn’t even match your 401k to retail reps. They are not entitled to free money like that, and those punks just borrow and withdraw from it anyways. The company matching retail people’s contributions is stealing money from the real workers making 5G possible in the wireleline side!!

@bsy

A handout is what most wireless people are getting by staying home with mommy and daddy instead of leaving the nest. If you had an eisp in your department that came out every couple of years, when you decide that you are ready to retire, you would be a fool to just retire without waiting for an eisp to come out. It’s not a handout, it’s a bargained for benefit that the company fought for the right to offer at least once a year to entice people who are sitting on the fence. It makes room for the younger workers who would be laid off when the company needs to reduce the workforce. It makes smart financial sense to wait a year or two to wait for it. You can’t tell me that you wouldn’t want one if it was offered to your department. The employee is happy and so is the company, because they get people off of the payroll who are at top pay, have 5 weeks vacation and if they take the lump sum buyout, it gets them off of the pension system, which the company has to pay to manage and insure. That’s why they are no longer offering a pension to new hires, just an enhanced 401k.

You would think that everyone’s goal would be to buy a home, raise a family, pay your bills and save money so that one day you can retire and enjoy life.....it’s a shame that the younger people can’t see past tomorrow, have a sense of entitlement and resent the ones who actually have the foresight to work hard and plan for tomorrow.

But that would deny reality. You see, Wireline people ARE old and would rather look for handouts than just move on. And Wireless people DO lack respect for the establishment and tend to be developmentally delayed when it comes to moving on with their mature lives. Perhaps maturity means something altogether different for Millennials.

So now we're all one family with these crazy personalities, and we just spend our time bickering. Both sides have a point. Between the lot of us we probably make a good employee. Maybe we ought to learn a little from each other?

The problem with this site is that when someone from wireline asks a question about something on the wireline side, like an EISP, the wireless people chime in and complain...saying they are tired about seeing that posted. Of course the wireline people are going to get angry, then the trolling starts. Wireless people calling the wireline side old, saying they are looking for handouts, etc. Then the wireline side will start talking about millennial and how they have no respect, live in mommies basement, etc. If people would just skip over the stuff that they are not interested in and look for posts that they have an interest in, this site would be much better for getting the info that we all are looking for.

You know that if you were using the site for wireless employees, you wouldn’t have to be annoyed by us old wireline employees using a wireline site?

@vhm

We have another contender for the “whiners circle”. Maybe we should have separate categories...like the snowflake award or best mommies basement award. Any other ideas for awards?

Honestly, why all the hostility from wireless to wireless? Multiple posts about how wireless are snowflakes and living in mom's basement? I've been with the company 13 years, own my home and worried about the store I work in being closed. I check this site daily to see what rumors are new and confirm the old. I think you wireline people should grow a backbone and stop acting like children who can't share the sandbox. We are 1 company and I pray that those who work either side are financially secure in their future with the company. Now, I'll start praying for you to stop whining and acting like obnoxious brats.

They should rename it the “whiners circle” for all of you “woe is me” wireless snowflakes. None of you will work here long enough to retire. Looks like mommies basement is going to be your current address for years to come.

Nope " Winners Circle " has not been discontinued as of yet. Well out West here it has not. Just a few weeks ago they sent out an email and a link to where the reps stood year to date for winners circle. It is still a nationwide event just look it up on info manager. I do agree though that this year is the last year but will still be celebrated next year.

They discontinued Winners Circle in Southern New England last year. They even announced it was the last one.

When customers realize that Verizon does not want the set up and go process done at stores they will stop coming to the stores and more will order online. It's a catch 22 because what Verizon will gain in fewer locations/employees/expense they will LOSE with the cross and up selling. I do see Verizon changing the commission structure so the days of reps making 80k to over 100k are coming to an end. Even if its only 10% of reps making that kind of money its going to be a huge loss for them. I think its safe to assume that the next " Winners Circle" event will be the last one.

Again, he's not too swift, people will come to buy. They just don't want you to sit with them for an hour for content transfer that's all. If he wants to be the "free service center" let your location continue to be led by that manager who won't take advantage of all the technology available for content transfer. For example go into an Apple Store ,they don't do anything and you have too make an appointment. It's almost 2018

He says no one will ever come to the store if we start telling people that. He’s probably afraid it’s a lead in to closing the store once customers are weened off the help.

To Nya post, I sat thru the hour webinar! The other guy is right your manager is telling you the wrong thing itis not an "Option" you just show them how to do it" just be positive about it. I guess your store isn't busy or he doesn't want to get a better commission check for December. Typical, inept,not involved Store Management.

See that's the Problem! The company wants us to use set up later! The store management will make this not work they just don't want to get their hands dirty, That Manager from the last post should be written up for not implementing company policy. You have to them how to do it themselves not just do it for them! Incredible. Good luck with your December quota!

My manager just told me to say they have the option to set up later, but help everyone set up who wants it. Including fedex boxes. So nothing is changing.

@fnu, you ain't kidding. Can't wait to see them pop a box open, look at an A-240, and just watch their eyes glaze over. Or, even better, an assimilator using PPS protocol. The funs about to start. LOL!

The best will be the unopened FedX boxes, with all the set up instructions inside, turning them around and giving them more instruction they will definitely refuse to turn around. I hope Management have an ambulance waiting at the front door! Otherwise, they will cave in and it will be the same. All this with maybe 7 or 8 employees to help. Not the 40 like 2 years ago

I would go to any corporate store today and watch the entertainment. It will be a laugh riot. The entitled reactions alone will be something to see. I would like the landline people come in and see what front line employees put up with every single day! You couldn't do it!

wireline tough guy, why dont you go enjoy that retirement you "earned" instead of wasting your time on a website discussing layoffs for a company you dont work for . dont make it seem like you were part of the lewis and clark expidition , you worked for the damn phone company following instruction to where to put wire , you didnt commission a charter to provide to those without phones ,you listened to your boss like a puppet, now go puff your chest in the mirror and tell yourself how important you are.

F off old man your copper wires are getting phased out. No one gives a f about their home phone anymore this isn’t 1999. The new Gods are here bow to us. The fiber optics are next when 5ghz comes into play. Bye bye union lol won’t need you anymore because you’ll all be out of work.

I have a life: I earned it working the telephone poles, not selling a luxury. I brought phone lines into rural areas that had never known more than a post card. I earned my retirement and my right to post here and tell you: get on your own board, it's right here: https://www.thelayoff.com/verizon-wireless

Mr. Lahey: Do you know what a Sh-- Barometer is, boy?

Bubbles: What?

Mr. Lahey: Measures the Sh-- Pressure in the air. When the Barometer rises, and you'll feel it too, your ears will implode with the Sh-- Pressure. I tried to warm you, Bubs, but you picked the wrong side! Beware, the Sh-- Winds are a-comin'.

How I feel.
