I don't get your logic. As I understand it, GE doesn't own BHGE. They own stock in BHGE. What GE wants is cash (and to exit O&G). If GE were to trash BHGE, the stock price would be worthless and they would be shooting themselves in the foot and miss out on the cash they need. No doubt GE wants to sell their stock. Problem is there aren't many with the cash to buy it. So GE wants to keep the stock price up and try to sell it as quickly as legally possible. What comes after that is another story.

The writing is on the wall. They are circling the wagons preparing for the inevitable release from GE. In a sense, it is probably a good thing that BHGE is at least aware that GE is going to try and do everything they legally can do to get out of the current situation. So in that sense, it's somewhat positive. Better than BHGE ignoring it and then being "blind-sided" by it a few months from now.
