Thread regarding Dell Inc. layoffs

VPs and Directors should be measured on what they can do for us and actually deliver.

Why do we need to celebrate VPs coming to our site when they bring no value. Waste our site budget, just waste our time having to show up so the crowd of worshippers looks big enough for the VP to reward the top eunuchs then forgot we exists. My time is better spent drinking a hot beer slowly.

That is very true but it is not limited to just sales. I witnessed that rampant behavior by CS managers and directors. Just one huge frat party on the company expense account. But hey, they are real troopers, somehow they managed to carry on in spite of all the layoffs.

And on the company's expense, the Executives get to travel all over the world to give a BS one hour sales pitch that usually goes nowhere, include these 'potentials' in their pipeline and 99% of the time, they guarantee that the sale will come through. Once their meeting is over, they check-in at the best hotels, rack up the bar tab and hook up with disgusting tramp(s). Believe me, I've witnessed these actions. Oh and the best part...these are the MARRIED ones. If you're married to an employee in the sales organization at EMC/Dell, OPEN....YOUR....EYES or better yet, spend that 'hard earned' money like crazy which they so-call have worked hard for. Lastly, it would be interesting if HR ever pulled the stats on how many sales employees since their date of hire, have received DUI's. And again - all at the expense of EMC/Dell!

Directors are useless entities. Organization can recruit 5-6 good engineers in place of each director.

We all dread the "xxxx from xxxx will be here next week can you all get him CIO meetings". The customers have are tapped so many times for exec meetings, no value and create a tonne of work that doesnt get followed up on.

That applies to most companies. Most execs can't tell you what a server actually does, but they can run their mouths till next year.

That's all it takes, if you can talk and schmooze, you will get ahead eventually.

Execs think that they are celebrities just because they played their way to management. What they don't know is that the IT workers who use the products think that execs are empty suits and don't believe anything that they say. It's funny when execs want to get on webinars or speak at conferences. Most of them are just s--- ups to don't know anything much beyond politicking to get more for themselves.
