Thread regarding Thomson Reuters layoffs

Toxic work enviroment

I am not sure office environment at Thomson Reuters can become more toxic than it already is. Working here has become a nightmare. Managers will use any opportunity to belittle and scream at the employees without any regard for decorum and professionalism. Most of my coworkers are the same, only they are more subdued because they do not have the protection awarded by being a manager. They will back-stab you any chance they get, though, just to make sure their position at the company is solidified. A bunch of us are always worried if we will have a job tomorrow, be it from layoffs or simply from being fired by a manager who fabricated something about our work - or transferred his own screw-ups on us. This is affecting our mental health, this kind of stress is talking its toll on us, and nobody cares. Needless to say, HR is absolutely useless. I'm at the point where being laid off would be a welcomed push to get out of this abusive situation.

I would prefer my manager berate me rather than what she actually does which is wage a campaign against people she has an irrational dislike for. Spreading gossip and lies to her friends and lackeys.

It’s very weird when people you’ve never had a conversation mention the street you live on.

This is still true today. When you think morale cannot get any worse, someone at the top says “hold my beer.” Seriously looking to get out.

No one is blaming HR for doing their jobs - just the lack of professionalism is painful.

CEE HR is a caricature of the whole concept of human recourses. Good people are dashing to other companies while under skilled slaves and clowns are becoming team leaders and managers. Shame.

So sorry to read this. It's been like this for a number of years now. When they laid off people a few years back the management suggested that 'now the dead woods gone we can get on with things'! Shameful.

You need to get out and do it quickly. Lifes too short to live with people like this.

HR exist for the benefit for the company, it the employee.

People need to grasp that.

What do you expect HR to do - they’re not your parents. Grow up and take control of your working life and stop getting stressed. Tell your manager to stop their behavior and go talk to HR with some evidence. Quit with the negativity also - it’s very draining for you and colleagues - corporate life is sh-- whoever you go if you don’t change your attitude so either accept that or move on.

The underlying atmosphere and workplace climate has been demoralizing for “several” years.

I left there as I knew how poorly they treated long time employees who were competent and high performing but due to drastic cost cutting measures and if you’re not politically aligned with the right Senior Management , then they pushed many long time , good hard working employees out the door by fabricating false claims on their Performance reviews , just so the company can get around without paying their employee severance packages.

It’s unreal how this company continues to operate without any Principles and the Turnover continues to be very high. It’s no wonder their operating costs are very high and it wouldn’t surprise me in how they continue to falsely claim to their Shareholders the financial Data , EBITA , CAPEX when they can’t even authenticate their inventory.

Spend some time reading "Latest Posts" one day, where you will find this scenario going on everywhere in 2017. It's like someone sounded some bell for all management to suddenly turn evil.
