Thread regarding Seagate Technology Inc. layoffs

Dana is forcefully retired, what next?

Expect DH to be scrapped in January or February. That’s all for DH colleagues, done deal. DH failed live up to the expectation.

Dot Hill’s employees’ life won’t be much better if not acquired by STX. It’s the timing makes STX looks bad. It’s time for energe industry transitioning from on premise server to cloud compute. STX tried to increase rev. by going vertical server business.

Xyratex was going out of business. Some people on here seem to forget the purpose of a company is to be profitable.

DH was purchased at a significant premium to xyratex. And for good reason.

The board/SMTs do not put any value at all on experience. In fact, it's mocked. They continue to think a guy with a new degree from a sham university in India should do a job equally well for much less pay as a 20 year veteran engineer from an accredited US college. They think it's the new era where experience is a liability because it's too hard for people on the inside for so many years to accept new ideas and think outside the box. The best analogy is this. They think they can buy a pair of Brahma boots from Walmart for $20 and have them perform the same as a pair of $200 Red Wings. They collect the rewards for saving the company 2000%, and when the boots fall apart then it's never them that is accountable. It's the boots fault, so they throw them away.

He can also retire knowing he will get a huge pay off on top of all the money hes earned, while the coal face workers will be left to worry about when theyll be made unemployed and how theyll pay bills.

Thats what you get for making suicidle business decisions.

Why the SMT/board allowed him to outsource the Xyratex business and lay off 1000s of years of storage experiance and replace them with people who had zero idea is beyond me.

Ontop of this...change the ERP system from SAP to Oracle....effectively we were left with a division of people who had no idea what was needed and all the detailed paperwork that would have given us a chance was usless ....

He can retire knowing his final swansong was a complete and utter failure and the business world will rememver him solely for this...
