Yeah, somewhere around 200 in the training org. #notfakenews These people were selected based upon location ACROSS the U.S.. I wouldn't say it was cutthroat. I'd say it was based upon business needs. Clients budget gets cut? HR budget gets cut.
This post is fake. There were not any people let go in HR yesterday. It doesn't even give a location. #fakenews
Well a bunch of us were laid off today in HR and it was rude and cut throat. Politics at its finest. Let’s just say it was the worst layoff notice ever. No tact, no empathy, idiots in charge.
Hope in the raff cuz it’s litty again
AT&T uses layoffs to manipulate bottom line for shareholders. Instead of increasing profits through innovation, they buy up companies and cut jobs. They are also proof positive that trickle-down economics doesn't work because any revenue gained is used to increase shareholder profits, not to reinvest in the economy, their work force, or their communities.
Sorry but Core Copper still has a lot of years to go! And a lot more OT to pay out to maintain it!! 💰💰💰
To @y8Gp, OP (original poster) this is not exactly a News Flash! Except perhaps to you. Randy said that very thing in a New York Times sitdown article, February 2016... You’re a wee bit late too the party, Laddie!
8% is the actual number of workforce reductions that were carried out today Nov. 15.
"There a two real Departments that make money for the company - Mobility and Business Services."
Really? DirecTV netted $5+ Billion annually before the AT&T acquisition. That cash cow immediately and dramatically boosted AT&T's bottom line, though they were loath to admit it. Face it, DTV invented technology and provided a customer experience AT&T could only be envious of.
CORE COPPER SINKING FAST
If you are in a dying division- think copper then you will continue to see downsizing as well as tv services. There a two real Departments that make money for the company - Mobility and Business Services. Mobility is flat at ARPU is struggling due to competition and Business Services has actually seen growth and continued expansion of services - but not TDM stuff.
if you are under performing why should they keep you?
I've been told there's a 15% cut to HR staff and restructure in multiple areas of the business.
The entire T and DTV merger was about creating DTVNow. Essentially eliminating the operating cost related to DTV (Installation, Hardware, etc...) It will take a few more yrs and a nationwide 5G network before DTVNow is a suitable in home TV solution but that is the goal. Way too early to judge if the T and DTV marriage is a failure as the ultimate goal is still a few yrs away. TW merger is all about an advertising, analytics & content creation revenue stream eliminating the dependency for brick & mortar Retail revenue streams. Revenue streams of the future is business & entertainment all via software. My guess is T will not be involved in hardware or physical retail at all in 5 yrs.
Donovan is not being cut 33%. Some areas yes, but many areas are not being touched.
Could actually be true. I heard at the beginning of the year there was going to be MASSIVE layoffs at the end of 2017. I guess we will see...
Jon Donovan's org is being cut 33% and those people are finding out 11/15.
That's probably what the person was referring to
New hire attrition in retail? Who cares...aren’t they changing all the stores to authorized retail retailers? Field tech attrition is close to 0 but no new hires. Writing was on the wall.
ATT University just announced a surplus yesterday. Nov 1. They are top heavy at 2nd level and above. We'll see who they cut. If you cut the trainers and the new hire attrition is above 50%, who is going to train the replacements?
2020 bros. Randall said years ago the goal was to reduce ueadcount. Do people not listen?
with merger or without merger layoffs will continue, Good for Time Warner Inc. AT&T wont get to destroy their company
They said that during the first round but it's supposed to be over 5 yrs

They will not drop 33% of their entire workforce at once. Do you realize how many people that is? Do the math.
Huh
