Thread regarding CVS layoffs

What does streamlining mean?

From the Q3 Financial Report:

Building on the Company's successful implementation of the Global Growth and Efficiency Program to date, on October 26, 2017, the Company's Board of Directors approved an expansion of the Global Growth and Efficiency Program and an extension of the program through December 31, 2019 to take advantage of additional opportunities to streamline the Company's operations.

Initiatives under the expanded Global Growth and Efficiency Program will continue to fit within the Program's three focus areas of expanding commercial hubs, extending shared business services and streamlining global functions, and optimizing the global supply chain and facilities

In what division are they hiring employees from India? It is popular with many companies to farm out simple task call center volume over seas, but other than that I can't imagine what else you could be referring to. Can you elaborate?

They are sh-- canning the employees that made the company what it is, in favor of overseas contractors that they can give work visas to, and people just starting out in their careers that they can pay less. So unethical to make tax deals with the city and state, then lay off the local workforce and ship in people from overseas who they can get at a fraction of the cost. They see those of us who have been there for decades getting hardened and discouraged from the years of 60 hr weeks. They assume we have checked out. The sad truth is we are heartbroken because we have so much to give and no one wants it. They are afraid to let us work to our full potential because we will make suggestions that they don't want to hear. #canthandlethetruth

Sadly, we now work hard to save it for the next company we will work with. The culture has gone from people being friendly and helpful to constant reorganizing to squeeze more people in so they don't have to build more buildings, 2x/year layoffs, no motivation on managers parts to hear any ideas that don't save money. They might be helping someone on the path to better health but its not the employees.

It means spending cuts and layoffs - store closures as well. Optimizing business processes, eliminating human labor, etc.

We all know very well what's going on.
