Phoenix / Military and Veterans TriCare West Region contract

Oh, yes, there are no layoffs, right. Fake news....

PHOENIX - More than 300 employees at UnitedHealthcare in Phoenix will be notified on Thursday that they will be laid off, according to a company spokesperson.

The company said Wednesday that the layoffs are specific to 381 positions that support the Military and Veterans TriCare West Region contract, jobs that are all based in Phoenix.

I guess they felt obligated to publicize these layoffs since news of losing three TriCare contract would've gotten out anyway. UHG just wanted to get in front of it so they could tell their story of 'doing everything they can to redeploy people, etc.' Meanwhile, they probably aren't doing squat for those who are affected. I was part of the Quality layoffs, and I really don't believe they made any real effort to retain people....most of the ones laid off (from director level to front end staff, and everyone in between) were very experienced and high performers. It would be nice to see transparency with all the other layoffs happening across the company and those numbers publicized as well, not just M&V. But of course the company wants to hide what's really going on and keep their public image positive and stocks high!
