To all still employed by Seagate who might be worried about a layoff (in other words, every employee): how much fun are you having at work? How is morale? How do you like your manager? Do you respect top management? Are jobs available outside of Seagate? If you answer all these questions honestly, you probably conclude that it's time to leave. So do so. Get your LinkedIn site in order. Study Glassdoor ratings, so you don't end up at an azzwipe company. Do something nice for yourself. It's called SELF CARE.

Morale is low. Holding out for a package. Many in shakopee have quit over the last year. Only viable design center stateside is Colorado. Rumor locally is layoff dec or Jan. Layoff is expected so seagate can meet their previously announced annual expenses reduction.
So how bad is morale at your site? Shakopee is bad. Everyone worry that place closes.
To Hold my ballz: are your ballz dead weight? Or just ping pong? Sing song sung.
I guess to a dead-weighter, $150,000 is executive. Sad.
Since when is 150K / yr executive level?
I don't know too many people that followed Mr. SELF CARE's advice, left Seagate, found something better, then regretted it. How good would it feel to go to a job and not worry for 8 hours whether you would be a layoff victim?
Yes, who to believe? No doubt, it's a pickle.
Hmmmm... one Trump/upper management supporter, who feels the need through insecurity to display his wealth. The rest pretty much acknowledge that morale s---s. Who to believe?
Seagate Springtowns morale is incredibly low between operators.Twice the work for the same insultingly low wage.A climate of bullying, sectarian and aggressive managers.HR do not take complaints seriously and witnesses to management aggression are classed as not reliable.Have a secret poll between operators to asked who has purposely damaged wafers through dropping, hand prints and wand prints. The percentage would be surprisingly high.
He's a frequent troll here who tends to insult any post critical of management direction and brag about how much money he's getting. That alone reveals him as nobody of real importance.
My God...Is "1sbg" the dumbest s.o.b you ever heard or is he/she an executive laughing behind his salary & raise?
Yeah morale has never been worse. Whatever that guy is smoking I would like a hit.
What is that minion smoking who indicated that morale is high? The only thing that is high is you, get your head out of the sand.
I also saw that stealth raise they gave to the execs. Great strategy when morale is in the sh--ter
LOL, morale is great, now that all you dead-weighters are gone. My manager is more greatful for my contributions, and I couldn't respect top management more for running the business as a business, and making the tough decision that sadly resulted in sloughing off the dead weight (or maybe in your case it wasn't that tough for them) .
I can't decide if you are ex-Seagate or simply a disenfranchised WD bozo. Either way, your remarks are juvenile and ill-informed. And "stealth raise". Really? $1500 is a stealth raise? LOL. You HAVE been out of work for a while haven't you.
I guess I'll grudgingly take my $10,000 bonus and try some of that "self care" you are perscribing. ... maybe a couple of Odell Brewing Porters and some good laughs at you and your childish attempt to bring everyone down to your un-employable level. LOL. duffus.
Sincerly,
That was my first thought as well about the 401K total match increase. It's a stealth raise for the upper end while they do a Mr. Burns on the rest. I'm sure the reaction to the decision was a "excellent" as hands were rubbed with clever giggles.
FYI- they just increased the 401k match, but only for those making over 150k a year.
Because our executives aren't paid enough already apparently.
The good news is that word is getting out about seagate and how it treats its employees.
Agree...take whatever you can from seagate.Relax and take it easy, get paid for doing the least amount as you can.I will use seagate for my advantage..not theirs.
Hahaha. Yeah. I already know I'll probably be laid off in 2019-20 when my site will be shut down and I'm cool with it. Sure you can still have fun working with interesting crazy stuff STX is trying to do (mounting laser beams on sharks!!!), and you can also take it easy a little bit as well. No need to work yourself to death knowing it's just a shorter term gig at this point culminating with a nice goodbye check. What do they call that....work/life balance? I'll take more life thanks! Flex time is certainly fun so take lots of it and don't feel bad. Apart from a scheduled layoff I've witnessed it is darn near impossible to get fired for slacking off and not showing up much at STX. Take it easy, take lots of me time, take classes/training on STX time, smile more and have fun. You might even be surprised that will all your slacking off you survive the next layoff. I know people who put in 15-20 hrs/week at the office and are still going. Yeah if you are miserable because you really want to move up to higher levels and need to make more money now, then absolutely take a higher paying offer if you get one. STX isn't going to give you diddly in terms of raises. That much is clear. But if you're at a good level and are living a happy life with a good check, that may be enough for now. It depends on where you are in life.
