Thread regarding Juniper Networks Inc. layoffs

Was SRX spared again ?

It's been treated mildly, at least on developmentioned side in the past. Did they again dodge the bullet with perpetual blackmail? It's insidious for healthy teams to get hit when they are the primary biz lossers.

17% Revenues down YOY is NOT a revenue bounce with any math. There is no recovery in sight for srx.

Why are rest of us taking a hit for it?

Juniper’s culture is not only based friends and relatives - it is based on idiots and morons.

Every important decision made at Juniper is swayed by personal agendas, egos and self serving goal. It is sad, and frightening to know that a public company is being run (down into the ground) this way. Almost at a point of no return, unless the board takes action to make some drastic changes from the C-suite on down.

True. Every enginner in srx group is looking for job. Most people who are staying are not because they see any future. It is because they cannot find job anywhere. With that team, how can company think of growing revenue. With juniper culture of friends and family, nobody who has talent is ready to join juniper security business. They have made incompetent people managers who does not understand abc of management.

Problem is that no one will buy the SRX business either. So Juniper is stuck supporting it.

Juniper views Security, a key business segment. LinkedIn jobs descriptions list Juniper’s “industry” as:

“Computer and Network SECURITY, Computer Networking, and Telecommunications”

In that order! For a services PM job. Not even Security specific. That’s Intriguing, to say the least.

Also, the only succesful deployments of virtualised network functions (VNFs) so far in the cloud have been vSRX - based on AWS, Azure, and Google cloud etc. Not vMX. However, compared to the competition, the numbers are dismal in the security space. There is also a Software Defined Secure Network (SDSN) Solution, which lists the vSRX as the primary VNF used for Routing as well as Security.

Security is important for Juniper’s survival. New security products, later this year will help Juiper succeed and be more competitive (this is the more optimistic view), or gasp for more air (this is the more pessimistic view). Either way you look at it, the SRX cannot be dropped or ignored as we move forward. Security is a key requirement across all products Juniper sells. Look around the verticals we cater to, and you will see most customers want integrated security in routing/switching products.
