Nobody I Know is Cancelling Class on 10/9

None of my coworkers are cancelling their classes on 10/9 as a protest to the sh8tty ways that we have been treated by management over the last five years. Or the sh4tty way that our reputations have been dragged through the mud and students given unfulfilled promises. No one I know is calling in sick and rescheduling their classes. Particularly those who were just laid off. Not a single one of them is participating in any kind of work stoppage action...because that would just be wrong. None of us would ever condone such a thing, so don't even think about it

@PycWWVL-1ndj, what wouldn't be fair is recruiting students who won't be able to pay back their student loans. DeVry is in trouble because few people stood up to the bean counters. And few people said anything about the false advertising.

The DeVry name became so bad that the parent company had to fire the CEO and CFO and rebrand. And what came out of it? Firing profs, increasing class size, and robbing Peter to pay Paul. For those loyalists out there, what have the CEO and CFO done to make the company more viable?

Who is to say when the big boys will get even more tired of ATGE?

But protesting in any shape or form would give the management an easy out to get rid of the protesters. the outcome would be a few of these losing their jobs while the rest of the workforce would just carry on...

They will only notice if it hits their checkbook or causes a media stir. Find a way to do that and you will have their attention

@PycWWVL-1oqm don't say evil. Someone on the adtalem board got his head chewed off for using that word. Its the right word just don't say it.

I see your point tho. Protest needs to happen but how and will it change anything?

I only have 7 students, only 4 who show up to class, and they are all okay with holding a WebEx make up class It would not hurt my students at all.

My question is what would this accomplish? Does it really send a message to anyone who actually cares? I am all for protesting against this stupid, evil company but I would want to do it in a way that has a real and observable effect. Would this do it? I'm not quite convinced, but I am open minded.

I hear you, OP. I won't be doing that either, and I won't suggest it to my coworkers. I hope nobody else in other regions gets the same idea and makes this a united, coordinated effort.
