Thread regarding Saudi Aramco layoffs

Now's the time to leave

PMT is currently getting hammered by the dozens. It looks like the company is closing down all expenditures and investments after hitting the brick wall of reality in regards to the rapidly shrinking possibility of a successful IPO.

50% reduction in currency reserves, debt from zero to 20+% of GDP in two years, and a domestic consumption of now 30%+ of all energy production seems to imply that the Saudis are in irreversable financial free-fall. They know it, and are in panic mode about it. Before this is over expats will be parking at the airport and leaving everything behind just to avoid the stampede.

The ME is a place where things can go south on a dime. The dime is in place.

Hide the truck keys from that saudi dude. He's already trained to roar down the highway running families off the road.

The saudi sounds upset! It's a panic! Texas is exporting oil! Deport the expats! Hold a fire sale!

Does the robot you did not build outperform the Saudis who did not build the clock you could not build?

Saudis outperform all others in one place: conference rooms. We all acknowledge that you are world leaders in endless, mind numbing, pointless meetings and discussions.

Mayans could measure time. We need to know why you couldn't build your own clock in Mecca.

Hey genius can you figure out why saudis need a 60-day notice period for us to leave this dump and the rest of the planet needs 2 weeks?

Also tell all of us why McKinsey needs to set your National Vision?

Why do westerners think that Saudi need them?! Or think of themselves as superior in science or knowledge compared to Saudis! Many Saudis went to better schools then the rest of you! You’re a bunch of ungrateful, overpaid losers who came in for easy money! I didn’t hear a voice when you are paid three to four times what Saudis are paid for the same job, when the Saudi is outperforming expats! Well, laying off incompetent staff should’ve started ages ago! Very few expats have anything special to offer, those should not be worried! Only the incompetents are whining! And I’m happy to see incompetents go!

Uncovering corruption and scandals in Aramco is good for the success of the IPO. The young Crown Prince is a smart man, his move to bring transparency into the oil giant will put so many of the low and mid management staff out of business. However; uncovering alone won't end the robberies taking place every single day, but holding people strictly accountable for their actions will, for certain, do the trick. Strict accountability does not mean putting the corrupt Manager(s) on special assignment, keep him as "Unplaced" Manager Level, and continue to pay him salary, but rather, arrests and prosecutions. Many Divisions and Departments are being run as private business bringing sizable supplemental income to it's manager and his family and friends. Those sub-organizations are being well-protected from internal enemies (honest employees), as well as external enemies (Corporate Auditors). It's highly doubtful that GM & VP levels are getting a share of the dirty money, but it's 100% certain that they know exactly who, in their organization, is in bed with contractors. GM level and above give it the blind eye to steer away from career suicide and retaliation.

Never felt so relaxed and comfortable during the last ten years in prison, i.e, DH camp. It's a joy to wake up in the morning with the fact that I don't have to face an A$$ #$&@.

Saudi hand you money with the right hand and take it back with the left one. Expats are being treated like enemies, Managers in Aramco are racing to fire people ... they give you bad end of year review regardless of your performance. You can express your frustration all you want, file all the grievance your little heart desires, and complain day and night, but nothing changes. Saudi managers are living the illusion that they can run the company with Indians and Philippinos. Young Saudi are starving to learn from western expats, but Al-Hassa gang are holding Aramco by the balls. VP's promote families and friends, the more expats you F**k, the better your chances for higher grade code.

Leaving Aramco or getting laid off starting to feel like a relief, after spending years here, you come to realize that life in the camp is more of a prison than it used to be. Aramco security starting to harass residents. Issuing violations like crazy, Office environment has become overly hostile, Saudi Mangers are so confused, they make decisions and reverse them the very next day. Corruption and Bribery have spread like a 4th degree cancer. time to cash out and move on.

Just 3 days before Hajj they gave us the lay off notice. We were given only 30 days to wrap up everything out of which 15 days were non working days due to eid holidays.

The company attitude was ruthless to the employees and their families. The middle management is using this lack of work reason as a black hole to take revenge and sink anyone into this hole who argue or protest against their biased and unprofessional behavior.
