Ai and gainful employment

"Three institutions accounted for a quarter of all graduates from failing GE programs.... Of the 115,985 graduates from programs that failed the gainful employment test in the first year of reported data, 32,801 of those students—or 28%--came from programs housed within just three institutions: The University of Phoenix, ITT Technical Institute, and The Art Institute of Phoenix."

So many things wrong with this "industry" that like many others is founded on fraud and coersion.

The target cohorts that these schools exploit to achieve their numbers have always been easy pickinings. It is no secret that most of these loan mills were and are

situated adjacent to communities that are majority comprised of people of color.

This population, but not exclusively, has always been in need of remedial

preparation prior to being sent on the road

to matriculation coupled with non-

dischargable crippling debt.

As a result of years of rapacious "numbers" oriented behavior by the industry, the

relatively few who have managed to

navigate the EDMC gauntlet and graduate

do so at an astronominal cost to the taxpayers when you factor in this horriffic

success-failure ratiio.

I have heard many on this site bemoan the lack of ownership on the part of the many

students who say they have been

deceived. But what ownership has the

industry ever taken in accounting for its

ultimate meltdown?

If shapeshifting by the Dream Center is at the core of their future business plan, how

can there be anything less going forward

than more of the same predatory behavior that has forced a for-profit to become a non-profit.

Unfortunately, all the usual suspects in the

for-profit world are behind this deal. But I

am reminded of what a very smart person

once said about the definition of insanity being embodied in doing the same thing over and over again expecting a different

result.

With this said EDMC employees should still expect employment but only on a volunteer basis after joining one of the mega churches

Instructors are not handing out A’s that’s for sure! I have never seen so many 1.0s and .98s in my life for as long as I been in education. They push these students through along with 20k school bills. That means they owe the government over 31k, parent could owe at least 20k and then they could owe the school money! How is any student supposed to survive needing to pay all this debt?

How is this a surprise? The majority of the students at those schools are from the white trash or ghetto class of Americans. Who is going to employ these people with their worthless for-profit degrees? Ah iz gettin' edjamacted.... Right. Please hand over your FAFSA $$, GI Bill $$ and log in here, post crap here and sit in those plastic chairs in this dilapidated strip mall/crappy part of town campus classroom. Your underpaid, harassed by management professor will be here soon to BS their way through another class. Here is your A. Now go find a job that pays more than minimum wage which is around 30k/year.

It seems like a positive note but is it an accurate one? Way back when when the ge results were published, I remember seeing quite a few AI programs failing to meet standards across multiple campuses.

If I take that Gainful Employment test and pass it, can I get a job?

I'd say that this is actually a positive note since it is restricted to AI Phoenix. The numbers surprised me.
