Thread regarding IBM layoffs

Am I ever going to find a project?

I joined CBD in early July and am aligned to CPT. I am struggling to find a project!

I've been doing training, reaching out to managers and partners, and applying for positions. I've probably applied to over 20+ seats and reached out to over 20 partners.

In addition, I am doing some internal project work – all of this is remote which is tough and does not help on the networking side – there is no face time.

I keep checking in with my managers and reaching out to partners almost daily for project updates, to no avail. Things come, I get excited but there is always something that prevents me from being staffed (e.g., deal cancelled, delayed)

Is there hope for me? I am increasingly feeling I’ll never be able to find that first project that that I’ll get laid off.

Any suggestion is welcome.

Thank you in advance…

This is normal - I joined GBS in 2004 - it was slow that summer - I joined in July and I got my first project in October. I did all things that you are doing. One day there was a presentation on a tool in the office, I got a business card that the facilitator was handing out (he was a Senior Manager) and I shot him an email with my profile in a PDF format (at that time folks were emailing html versions of the resume) - anyhow, he called me back tomorrow and put me on his project, I was testing 12 hours / day for him. I ended up working on four projects for him.

Anyhow, a few years later he told me that he liked how I PDF the resume - he told me that he had a few resumes in his hands but he felt that I was a self starter (showed up for the prezo) and that I liked tech (PDF-ing).

You never know how things will pan out, just keep trying and something will come up...

Good luck...

Use all your free time to look for another job. No future at IBM unfortunately.

Your fears are justified. Start looking for work outside IBM on a personal device.
