Thread regarding Education Management Corporation layoffs

Dream Center deal will guarantee massive layoffs and closures

For those who believe things wiil stay "business as usual" I have ocean front property in Arizona I would love to sell you. If you think a company is going to purchase a struggling company and not make huge money saving changes within the first 90 days, you're either stupid or in total denial. Unprofitable campuses will be taught out and closed, others will be consolidated. Large reductions in staff will be the first thing done because it is the quickest way to effect the bottom line. Don't fool yourselves by thinking you are at bare minimum because many will be trimmed to the bone and then some.

So much this, @PrjH4pb-2bkw. This deal will not end well for us. If there was ever a time to update your resume and start looking for greener pastures, now is it.

Dream center is turning out to be the center for crushing dreams for the staff at the remaining Art Institutes. I’m just waiting for my number to be called, as are my colleagues... the moral is below dismal, and I watched many loyal long time staff members get laid off this past Friday. And many cried. We are all looking for jobs now and still absolute SILENCE FROM OUR MANAGERS at DCEH!!! It’s disgraceful and more than disappointing ... and then I had a concerned student approach me in the hallway today and ask me if her degree will still be valid if the Art Institute goes under. So sad. Mostly for the students but also for the people who were just laid off... some of which have given more than 15 years of their life in service to this college. We didn’t even get to throw them a goin mg away party. Shame on all of you in DCEH management. SHAME!

Some dreamer leaders have bigger houses than the dream Centers. The will probably take lots of unfortunate folks in to help with the silver polishing.

You have to stop the bleeding before you can rebuild. Many will lose their jobs before it levels off. No one is buying a company that's losing money to continue down the same path. Major restructuring will take place over the first year starting with a reduction in force.

They can definitely do a massive layoff and teach out a bunch of schools. They would not need admissions whatsoever and just a few financial aid to do the up keep. Majority students will end up transferring to other schools. It can be done!

Currently there are 60,000 students so how could they function with massive layoffs?

Will there be disruption? Sure, but I doubt massive unless you are working in an area which is not growing. My guess is online is safer than on ground.
