Sad to see the personal service leave our jewelry counters no matter the style. Our members can not get ledgendary service if they aren’t able to try on their selections. Diamonds are as personal as is our clothes we wear! I’m working full time, but only get allocated so many hours to maintain the case. I work on the floor, aisle 6 and folding clothes. When I’m not being called to the front to service members wanting to purchase.

I’m only so happy to help. Checking others out. Yes I never got to be a team lead for Jewerly but sure do all that was expected of a team lead.

Been with Sams for 17 years, been working jewelry for 13 years!

Made lots of friends and repeat members purchasing.

My only regret is there is no safe way to check in and out out high dollar merchandise, without carrying it everywhere I go, if a member walks up to look!

Other than that I’m pretty much happy to help. Happy to keep working till they decide they don’t need me any more.

Maybe at your club you consider it wasted payroll.. what tier is your club ? I work at a tier 3 and we always done a million a year in jewelry sales...until they quit giving us quality jewelry to sell and no support .. new counters have made our jobs a nightmare.. not even kidding !! So they need to hurry up and eliminate my TL position. Ready to go. I’m done with Sams Club and all the favoritism that comes with it. We have so many problems with morale .. if you go in cheerful it doesn’t last long because of all the negativity and everybody fearing for their jobs. Everybody is miserable. I do mean EVERYBODY !! Bigwigs need to at least announce when and if positions are being eliminated. It’s not like anybody would quit until it happens. So sick of this.

I just had to put my two cents in on this one... and before I start yes my position is the one in talks of being elimination come the first of the year. In my club we have one jewelry associate that was full time but now only gets part time hours. When she is in jewelry she gets called to fold clothes, wrap in bakery, door breaks, etc. I'm sorry but if any position has time to do that then bye bye. Why? Think of this as a company! So much payroll being wasted on some cologne and earrings being sold a day. Just take a look at your clubs item sold log tomorrow. Our COS team is mainly the ones who help get items out anyway. I agree it's not needed. Businesses die without innovation. Our club manager is a very friendly woman and would do everything possible to keep great associates if they are displaced. If your not in a club like that then sorry for you.

Can’t wait to be eliminated at the jewelry counters. New counters are horrible. Not user friendly or member friendly. All my members hate it and are sending complaints to HO. Of course that won’t change anything .but at least they will hopefully know that they f....ed up!!

Personally, I like people to much to work at a high end jewelry counter. There is a ridiculous markup on the jewelry. I could not take advantage of people like that.

Obviously the one butt hurt as you call it is you. I don’t know which club you are from but I am thankful you are not at mine! This has been the first post that everyone has been truly negative and unsupportive. I have never worked jewelry but I do see how the jewelry lead is done. People give out her home number for questions, tell the members to come back to look at something, refuse to do or look for special orders. They sell out of the case when there are plenty in the safe. But again that’s just my club. Sorry you obviously have issues with jewelry.

Who would have guessed the Gossip Lead would be so outspoken on an anonymous message board.

Kudos to the lead who went outside her area all the time to help in other areas. You are only thought less of because others in your position don’t do the same.

In clubs I have been at the counter becomes a leaning post for associates passing by to catch up on gossip given to and from the jewelry person. Good to hear that not all are this way.

S---s for anyone to lose their job but the only thing that seems to be constant in this company is the purging of long term associates. It’s gonna sink them in the end.

Obviously this is why the company is failing. They hire people who don’t care about anyone but themselves. So happy I have found another job.

Wow I see a lot of disrespect going on. If you HAVE not worked in jewelry you do NOT have a clue. It's a bit more than you think it is. Show some respect. Maybe your the type who figures hey, if that job's cut maybe mine wont. People assume working in jewelry is easier than it is until you start training them to DO it PROPERLY. Little more to it than shoving an item in a box!!!

This is the last thing I will say... associate of the year does not impress me at all. We all know how that gets decided ....and I have said numerous times that they need to put an express lane sign over my jewelry counter because I check members out all the time. I don’t mind doing this - I genuinely enjoy talking with and giving great member service. I give many many door breaks. Fill in at membership desk etc. so I earn my position and wages. But they might as well shut the dept. down As I said no support from HO anymore.. so come on layoff. I’m ready for it . Hope it happens before the holidays because this new counter is not user friendly

I can agree with you that 20 year associates are not valued enough anymore. I’m just of the opinion that Jewelry is not a position that needs a team lead. If you notice most people who are not leading more than 3 people are being eliminated. Cash office, receiving lead, ptc, membership, audit....

If you are a go getter that goes outside the jewelry case 10-15 hours a week covering door breaks, folding clothes, self checkout, cashiering, and selling memberships then you completely justify your 40 hours.

Good luck to you.

Ps. I’m very liked at my club. I have won Associate of the year multiple times at 2 different clubs and Associate of the Market.

Wow!!!!PpgAeN9-udwv....you sound like such a nice person...I bet you are just soooo loved at your club!! You’ve got me all wrong... I’m not butt-hurt at all that my position is being eliminated. I’m more than ready to go ..I just don’t appreciate morons like you deciding if my position is necessary or not!! I’m of the opinion that we all work together as a team and when a person that has been with the company 20 years loses their job ..that’s a sad thing. Many have given their all to this company. And for what? I’ll pray for you , sounds like you need it!!

PpgAeN9-udwv. I’m not sure you understand the concept of snowflake. The person butt hurt about their position being possibly eliminated and questions on its need in the company falls directly into the definition of snowflake.

Jewelry has been 3rd party before and could be again. Remember Jan Bell?? Fragrances can be sold in the blister pack pallets exclusively. If a member sees an expensive piece of jewelry they want they are gonna find someone to open the counter and slap it in a cardboard box and bag.

I’ve spent many hours helping jewelry over the years in several clubs. Not one of them has had a lead. They aren’t even replacing the full time position when they leave at this point for a reason.

If your club truly is doing “hundeds of thousands of dollars in sales” you will probably continue in your role unless you get a remodel.

There have been and will be much more important roles eliminated than Jewelry Lead. Don’t flatter yourself because you made a few friends leaning on your counters being overpaid.

Like someone else said. If you were that good and knowledge on selling jewelry you would be at a high profile jewelry store.

No. The jewelry at sams club does not sell itself. You really do not know what you’re talking about. I have numerous members who wait until I’m there to make a jewelry purchase. I really don’t care one way or the other If they do away with the position We are not supported or appreciated by HO anymore. Used to be so much better. Our jewelry quality has gone way down. I’m tired of the tiny counters and by the way. We still have a lot of inventory.

again, the TL title and position were allowed to stay in place but once that job was vacated so was the TL title. really, what team do they have to lead. at best one PT asssoc. the stock or merchandise will be greatly reduced. if a tl is so talented in high end jewelry then take that to an exclusive jewelry store. in sam’s the jewelry sells itself.

Wow. Such hostility. A little compassion and understanding goes a long way. Our jewelry team lead sells hundreds of thousands of dollars per year. And is responsible for millions of dollars in jewelry. Someone needs to be responsible for that. Is she the hardest working team lead. Of course not. But she does her job and has a loyal member base. Just like everyone says they don’t need accounting that we don’t do anything. Until you work in my office or my position you have no clue what I do. Just because it looks easy it’s not. Maybe we are just good at our jobs. You will see an impact widely in my club! Promise you that.

Who the hell are you talking to? PpgAeN9-troh?yiu obviously know NOTHING about being a jewelry team lead. ... and there are many of us. Over 300 of us on a company e-mail chain. You must be one of those snowflakes I hear so much about now ! JTL have a lot of responsibility ...none of which you would ever understand. So get a life and try a little kindness ...

Hold on to your White Diamonds perfume granny because your position is long overdue for getting cut. I haven’t seen a Jewelry TL in a club for over a dozen years. Giving TL to a person in that area is and always was a waste of money for your club.

Who exactly are you leading? What percent of the club sales come from your area?

You are stuck in 1996.

AGAIN......what club is doing this .....20 hours for jewelry? We’ve got the new counter and I still have my team lead position and I have a part time associate. The only department I work in is jewelry. I think this is all a bunch of milarky. Not saying it won’t happen but I don’t think it’s happened yet . I feel like eventually it will happen because the case design is not set up to be manned. Very poorly designed disaster. I HATE IT!!!! I wish they would do it before Christmas so I don’t have to work this nightmare counter !

the reason 20hrs makes no sense is jewelry check in only requires a fraction of that time. the mgr can do that in 10 min since there will be much less merchandise. 20 hrs devoted to jewelry is ridiculous , after the new counter that is

jewelry assoc not needed after all the counter remodel. it’s a pull tag situation if they want to look and feel it then a cos takes care of it. we have cos going to assist members all the time when no jewelry assoc is there. def inconvenient but no more than now. much less stuff to look at

What sams club has gone to 20 hours for jewelry. Name your club...otherwise this is not believable was your club selling any jewelry? Was it busy at all? Are you just trying to stir up problems? What gives. Need facts or else I consider this fake news!!!!!!!!!

Costco has no jewelry associate either. You write on a pull tag what you want, take it to register and the manager, gets you the product. Mostly the members waste your time anyway. They just wanna try things on to pass time.
