The actual number is closer to 58,000, so not quite 10% yet. Still really bad though.

HPE is laying off 5,000 out of 50,000 employees by year's end, yes, this is looking very solid by now. 9-22-'17 Houston Chronicle said that, quoting un-named but multiple and solid sources. Major-metro newspapers of this kind usually check their info and sources carefully, so I think you can take this to the bank... Or more accurately, to the un-employment agencies...

Also the Houston flooding (Hurricane Harvey) likely means that HPE is ready to throw in the towel, mostly or entirely, and quit altogether, manufacturing in Houston. It just floods way too often in Houston lately. April 2016 and now this! But I am saying "likely" here, not "for sure"...

The key here is "at least 5,000 workers", and the current rumor mill inside the Enterprise group has the actual number at 10k, or 20%.
