It is capped at 12. You get a minimum of four weeks regardless and one week for every year. So if you worked here for two years you get four weeks but if you've been here five years you only get five.
I was laid off this week (IT Woodlands Corp office). With the company for 2 years. Will receive four weeks severance. Two weeks for every year of service. So one week per year is not consistent with what I'm seeing (as well as other co-workers there will get).
Severance of 1 week per year of service. I know of a person who worked there about 15 years and got six weeks severance. Can anyone confirm that it is capped at six weeks severance.
Today feels like the end of Raiders where they open the Ark. We suddenly found ourselves in the midst of a massacre. All we can do is keep our eyes shut and hope it ends and we will still be here. Then it ends without warning, without anyone sounding the "all clear" You open your eyes. You're shaken and on the verge of tears. You look around to see who's fallen but they are gone. And you're expected to keep going.
We already know there will be a next time. How lucky do you feel? How long can you get by on severance of 1 week for each year of service? Then what, when it runs out? If you've been here for decades the package may sustain you until you land on your feet. But you also have no idea how really long it will take you to find your next job. It will be like another 2008 in how it hits your savings. The same economy that is beating the sh-- out of this company and all our competitor is the one you will be thrown into in the next round.
Do yourself a favor. DONT KEEP YOUR EYES SHUT.

... because management shills spend their valuable time perusing message boards, trying to redirect the conversation AFTER A REALLY Sh--TY DAY to something more positive with all the subtlety of Matt Foley yelling at a group of five year olds. IM PUMPED! Go CB&I!
