Thread regarding Chicago Bridge & Iron layoffs

Impacts of Layoffs

I wish that CB&I leadership would have done more to address the impact this week would have on productivity and emotional status. Work is not getting done, and any meetings, nobody speaks about any of it.

Yet the elephant in the room is crushing morale and the ability to function, to meet the expectations, deadlines, etc...

I can't believe meetings are even being conducted this week. Management absolutely needed to pro-actively manage all aspects of the impact of this huge downsizing.

I would like to see a plan mapped out for those CB&I employees not laid off that communicates the impacts across all the orgs (not by name, but by role), and a strategy for how the work is going to get done and mitigation plans in place to realign and re-prioritize the work.

WE ARE HURTING! WAKE UP!!!

There will not be any news when it is all done, nothing to let the staff know it is clear for now. Just going to let rumors spread and fear hang over everyone. The cop standing by the garage with his arms crossed today after work staring everyone down was a nice touch. Great way to add to the tension already there. To save money they should do away with the executive car leases. All the porsches, audis and vettes would save us a bunch of money instead of laying off people. While your at it, sell the ranch and get rid of the executive jets. Make that one fat body blowhard EVP pay for an extra seat on a commercial plane.

Completely agree. The Law Enforcement presence (covering all entrances, the lobby- uniformed and plain clothed) HR taking over conference rooms/1st Hallway of building 2 for 3 days-it was just all a bit much. Not sure where all the "TRANSPARENCY" our leaders speak of has gone. Because we haven't seen anything since, have been totally in the dark and are left to listen to rumors. And left with all of the un-easiness that seems like today leave. We have some great people here, that are hard workers and want to see our company come thru this- we lack leadership. I see post after post on site after site...we are begging for good leadership.
