Thread regarding Weatherford International Ltd. layoffs

Weatherford is preparing for a takeover

Weatherford is getting business in order and getting rid of assets so that it is ready for a clean takeover in 12 to 18 months, if you cannot see that happening you must be blind. The amount of change that is happening all points in one direction.

I agree with you completely, @PiFiPAw-3jer. Too many things are happening for this not to be true. Especially the removal of all the good people from the management, those who could have done (and tried to do) something to save the company. This ship is going down...

@ Rod Nobbers - they are hiring others at higher pay because they can. It's not them, it's the workers. Stop playing victims, if you deserve more stand up for yourselves. They are counting on a bunch of passive employees sitting around and taking it because they are happy to have jobs.

Why are they hiring the competition's people at twice what they are paying our own staff. We've worked hard with no pay raises last few years, sacrificing for the company only to have them bring on new hands at twice our pay. What s---er Rod is bent now?

Products, people & market share.

There is a lot of bad there, however there is also a lot of good that has simply suffered because of poor decisions somewhere along the line. They also still hold good market share on certain products in different markets.

....and what exactly would a company be taking over other than grief, heartache and misery?

Takeover may be the wrong word, preparing to split its business units up and sell the pieces may be better.

Preparin' for a takeover? If that's not putting lipstick on a pig, I don't know what is. Can you shave WFT's a5s and make it walk backwards?
