Thread regarding Weatherford International Ltd. layoffs

Glad I left

So glad I left WFT.

This is where the haters say good ridance....

Nothing bad to say about the company. They treated me well early on. Just don't like who they become. I couldn't play along. No hard feelings on my part.

Interestingly I also moved to a co that has money to spend. But the habit of cutting cost remained in me which still makes me laugh till today.

Original poster again....

Productivity didn't increase as one poster jabbed.... my leaving or staying had little impact on the direction that took.

I truly hope well for the plant I came from. Not because of Weatherford, but because of the friends I still have there. Most do not have the option to leave. I want them to be happen and not fear of what tomorrow brings.

My current supervisor is one of the biggest yes men in this manufacturing plant.

I also left WFT on my own accord. It is so nice to work with happy people that have money to spend.

@PiFiPAw-3jer - could not agree with you more. Many see their managers being pushed out or let go - put things aside and you will see that they are putting "yes men" into the position as many of the moves are not the best for business but do move the company forward in separating their business units for sale.

Also, even though they would never acknowledge it - they are using it as an opportunity to release some of the older workforce and those that have moved up and are at higher salaries. This will make for an easier absorption by any company picking up the pieces as Their existing management would not be forced to contend with contradicting views or any internal politics that are a distraction. Those still with jobs, blue collar folks, would simply move forward under the new manager and be thankful they still had a job. The "Yes men" may have some junior management job but may also find themselves shown the door, although they would be walking away saying they were a past Director or past VP with no actual ability to fulfill the role at any new employer.

I would be surprised if it makes it 12-18mo. I would anticipate something announced in Q1 latest.

Weatherford is getting business in order and getting rid of assets so that it is ready for a clean takeover in 12 to 18 months, if you cannot see that happening you must be blind. The amount of change that is happening all points in one direction.

@PiFiPAw-3ysq - not to take sides here as most are trolls just working on getting a response, however your statement of productivity increases. Come on now, anyone that is the least bit familiar with this company knows that is a lie regardless of the circumstances. Weatherford is still practicing shutting down POs two weeks into the month as they don't have the cash flow needed to run. Most their vendors are lucky to be paid in 120 days and many most threaten to cut them off even to be paid.

Even if they had the work, they no longer have the people or ability to ramp up to increase anything. Unless you are talking about how fast they go down. They may be able to speed that up, but they appear to be clipping along pretty good now.

We are also glad you left as productivity has leapt since. For god's sake don't come back. We don't need you.

Original poster here...

First responder, I disagree, I'm missed, I was well loved...

Second responder, I'm thinking he may be a manager

Third responder, wasn't kicked out, started looking for something else, gainfully employed still

In the end it's just business.

You left because you were kicked out. Now you're unemployed and on the scrap heap. Get over it.
