Thread regarding Advance Auto Parts Inc. layoffs

AAP Desperation

The continuous rollout of new programs is ridiculous. Most never gain any traction before a new "latest and greatest" program shows up. Implementation is horrible regarding communication, pricing detail, and consistency. The left hand seldom knows what the right hand is doing. But hey, it apparently passes as positive activity to the shareholders. Apparently results are not measured. In the meantime the real parts people are eating your lunch.

Well that is what happens when AAP promotes a sales coordinator to a labor and productivity manager to fulfill a gender requirement for a management role.

Just need to create another program and some activities around it so the numbers look good on a spread sheet! The more great promotions and spread sheets the better business is right! All the while stock is taking a big dump and cutting the hours in the store every day. Getting rid of good experienced help and hiring kids to sell us parts. Ask any one of them what a TPSM is for? They don't speak that language.

Or Rockwell Q? And the smoke comes out their ears.

Advance does not spend the money to hire qualified people, and they have terrible understaffed stores. I am surprised they can manage to make any sales without having good people, shows how cheap this company really is, so I do not even bother checking prices on anything anymore, not worth the effort.

I'm just a delivery driver but I hear firsthand the comments the shop technicians make about us. Overall, Advance is a joke to them compared to the other parts suppliers. I deliver a lot of Dorman nuts and bolts while O'Reillys hauls in the big money items like fuel pumps, chassis items, and struts. Most of the old Carquest customers went to Napa. When the DM comes to the store he talks big but never makes any progress with improving our staffing and says he is there to make cuts not spend money. Seems like all the knowledgeable people in management have left for more stable jobs.

They have to keep all those marketing folks in business and create a lot of activities to justify their existence! This is AAP at its very best!

No follow through or follow up is needed only keeping all these amazing brains in power!

Very accurate post. It's unfortunate that those being compensated to know how to manage an auto parts company are clueless. This outfit needs people like you to fix what is broke. Thanks.

How are you going to sale these lame desperate programs when you don't even have a sales force calling on any customer's. Ask your commercial accounts when they last seen a CAM. They will probably say WHO?
