Trying to Claw Back VR Payments

lots of people getting letters saying that HPE/DXC have miss calculated the tax on your VR's especially for sales grades.

trying to get you to pay them back under threat of legal action but what you should do is deal with it via your counties tax department (IRS/HMRC) who universally have no idea what DXC are talking about.

Bet a dollar that the miss calculation impacts them not you which is why they want to process the tax repayment "on your behalf"

I had one of these letters, I contacted HPE to discuss and as soon as i mentioned I was going to contact HMRC they tried to pusuade me I didn't need to as they knew more about it.. really!!!!

HMRC told me that it was nothing to do with HPE as I didnt work for them and any discussions on tax should be with HMRC, I informed HPE this and all of a sudden they stopped threatening me.

Shame on you HPE!!

I was told by a friend that works in HR that you shouldn't even acknowledge these threatening letters - unless there are tens of thousands to be recovered they won't bother chasing it up - my wife followed this advice and kept several hundreds of pounds worth of "overpayments" - haven't heard a thing 10 years later ...

I used to work for HMRC before the EDS Borg came along. Schedule E Inspector "O" in a Tax Office.

If they fail to operate PAYE correctly or they deduct tax improperly then they are in breach of their obligations and could technically face prosecution.

Ultimately your tax liability is between you and HMRC. Tell DXC to swivel. You don't work for them anymore.
