Thread regarding Sears layoffs

Company Owned Sears Store

I was at my local Sears store in Indiana doing a price check on a double oven that I had previously priced at Lowes. Lowe's was about $250 cheaper. I noticed the Electronics Dept was no longer there. It was there a few months ago. I asked the sales associate what happened to it? He simply shook his head and acknowledged in so many words that Sears' future appeared bleak. I did not share my opinion as to the direction I think the store is heading. Not wanting to further depress this guy. I felt that if the company cannot even stock the shelves in their owned stores it must be much worse in their leased ones.

Kmart's got plenty of TVs. We've got so many TVs that they demand we just leave spider-wrapped TVs on pallets in the middle of the store, with an unobstructed walk directly to the front door, through which the contents of entire said pallets have just been carried right out, with nobody who is authorized to stop them.

"I noticed the Electronics Dept was no longer there. It was there a few months ago."

Electronics has been gradually pared down at all Sears over the last year or two. It's been down to just a couple short aisles of phone cables, batteries, etc for a while. I guess they stiffed their TV suppliers one too many times? The rest of the space is now mattresses and clearance appliances.

I think KMart still has more of an electronics dept, with some of their new-ish smart-home stuff, which IMO would've made more sense to sell at Sears.

@mnu- sad but true. I bought a refrigerator. It was badly damaged. Called to report damage and ask for exchange. They gave me a refund and brought me a new refrigerator. They didn't charge me for the second fridge. I called customer service to tell them I had a refrigerator that wasn't paid for, and that I needed to pay for it. The guy on the phone couldn't figure it out, and told me to just keep it. Wtf?? How can a company make money when they LITERALLY give things away?? This was a $3200 refrigerator.

Haha. Sears is awful. At the state they are in, why would you shop there in the first place? Your first mistake was even looking there to buy anything. Go to a company that cares about their associates! Go to a place that will be behind their products in a year!

Sears IS always the cheapest. Frequently they screw up the order, but just as frequently they give you 2!!

Price match and buy discounted gift cards to pay with, put the money in your pocket.

If you are buying a brand like Samsung, GE., LG it doesnt matter who you buy from and yes Sears will price match plus give you points which you can use to buy other things at Sears so if there is something else you do buy at Sears you come out ahead.

s

Sears averages about 7% higher in price than the competition and often does not fulfill on the order.

Why would someone ask for a price match when a financial stable competitor already has it lower.

Sears is generally the cheapest on all appliances, assuming you don't mind using a coupon. Of course if u simply ask them to price match they will.

Add in SYWR or discounted gift cards and it's much much cheaper.

Always thought they should try to go in with Samsung and make like a Samsung store within the store (like Apple at Best Buy)
