Typical Seagate. Get rid of the knowledgable high earning older employee and replace them with cheaper graduates. How exactly is that young graduate going to increase their knowledge if you've just rifted the their source of information. You might have replaced the post with a cheaper alternative but without the knowledge. What are they going to do next. Replace all the high end executive company vehicle with low end economy versions. It still fills the parking space in the parking lot....no thought not. For all you older employees out in Seagate land the information you contain in your head should stay there because as soon as it is transfered into the Seagate storage system your job is at risk and soon you'll find yourself with plenty of time on your hands to do gardening and home maintenance.

Short sighted so-called 'business experts' and technologists in California have ruined what was once a great employee focused company. Took a decade or so but they couldn't have done a worse job.
Friggin Californians
-adph Not once did I infer or state the failure of the company is on "floor workers". That's you playing the victim card again.
Its not a red herring. If someone isnt getting paid enough then how are they supposed to afford to move away?? You seem to think its the floor workers fault that Seagate is in the predicament that theyre in.Bad judgement by upper management and a lot of arrogance by upper manamonkeys is why seagates at where it is today.
Pay peanuts get monkeys.
Seagate stole my heart and soul. I'm calling the ethics helpline. I want my life back.
@PasnEez-9udw So basically you are a thief. Your excuse about being in a high unemployment rate is a red herring. You can move. You can change your profession. Yet you insist on playing the victim and milk the company with low productivity at the expense of everyone around you. You moan and complain about Seagate management while arguably you are a bigger problem because you are a virus and drag down your coworkers with your attitude. How people like you are able to sleep at night is a mystery but I guess it's all about you and nothing else matters.
I love Seagate. I have worked for 9 companies in my life. All have pros and cons, but @ Seagate I get what I put in. Quarters I slack off, I don't get rewarded. Quarters I rock and I am proud of, I get rewarded. It hurts to see this company make bad choices, but purchasing Toshiba is a sign the fight is still on. Until we close or something better comes and gets me (I'm always looking) I'll ride the Seagate wave until it crashes into the shores of Scotts Valley.
Im still there because im from an area with a very high unemployment rate which seagate use to their advantage.I would rather be employed and get paid by a company i hate than be unemployed..Its only necessity i work in seagate and not because i like the job.If youre from an area that has low unemployment and you have a choice of jobs that pay above average wages then you dont know how lucky you are.
@PasnEez-9kzf You couldn't be more wrong about me but hey, keep on living a life full of anger and always being a victim. Your own comments contradict themselves. I mean really, if they aren't paying you enough, according to you, then why are you still there? Life's too short to hate the thing you do 40+ hours a week.
Why should i quit?? Seagate pay me for my services, but they dont pay me enough.I dont owe seagate anything. You seem like one of those d--k lickers that thinks its an honour to work for seagate. Its people like you that makes Seagate an even more awful place to work in.
There are people like you in every work place,im betting you slide up beside a manager or anyone in authority to tell tales and kiss their a--.
But hey if Seagate is your life and its the only way you can get to interact with people then you should be pitied.
Seagate is just like any other job,its just a job..nothing more.Whether youre painting walls, stacking shelves or working in mcdonalds or working in seagate ..its a job.Seagate is NOT a special place to work nor is it a special job.Its just like any other job.Work and get paid.
@PasnEez-8ryk You just proved my point -1kmm on what's partly wrong with the company, you. Just leave. Quit. You obviously don't like the job. No one is holding you hostage. And no, my head isn't up my a--. I know exactly what's going on and I'm playing my cards properly while still working hard rather than being a complete mooch.
Stop playing the victim. Yeah the management is incompetent, which is putting it nicely, but I'm not going to rob them. They give me money in exchange for my time. If at anytime I dont think it's a fair exhcgange, guess what, I'm leaving and getting a different job.
Too many here make it sound like they're owed a severance package. Nope. That's what a retirement fund is for. Use your money and time wisely. If you have regrets, that's on you for your poor choices.
@PasnEez-8yby maybe you like getting bent over and shafted by Seagate, maybe youre the type of person who is on their knees and ready to s--- when a manager walks by,maybe you think its great in seagate because its the only life you have, maybe your work colleagues are the only "friends" you have, maybe you like being underpaid and overworked and maybe you like getting treated like sh--....I dont, thats why i do as little as possible and i take seagates money for it.
-7qih Maybe you should either quit, or stop whining.
who's the moron -1kmm he/she has got their head hidden up their a-s. This company does not value anyone - especially knowledgeable, experienced older employees. I was rif'ed in 2014 and I have never been happier than in my new job.
I hope they do in seagate springtown. We have an aging workforce of operators.Very few operators under the age of 35yo...most are in the 40-50yo age bracket, some are older. An aging workforce mixed with 12hr rotating shiftwork is a recipe for mistakes and sickness.A survey was done months about different shift patterns but as it was only a box ticking exercise from Seagate management there has been no communications about the survey since it was taken. We are all sick sore and tired of working for seagate.
Seagate needs to offer up early retirement again and not just to Sr Staff and above. They should allow anyone there over 20 years to volunteer. There would be many takers this time around in the US and Singapore.
Focus on SSD, cut down on HDD R&D, get out of cloud storage system, stop paying dividends, and grab Toshiba Memory with Bain/Hynix.
Deceiving SSD in India is too risky. My analysis is based on cloud compute and storage will prevail.
I know a Seagate operator had an idea saved the company 1 million a year in lost production so he was told...his reward a £5 cinema voucher....thats why seagate s---s...too many day staff in fact more day staff than operators....jobs for the boys attitude....6 shift managers for 4 shifts???? What the hell.
Really?? Ive known people that gave Seagate the best years of their lives, working long hours, having innovative ideas that set the ball rolling on many things...and guess what??? Seagate RIFed them,Seagate treated them like dirt.
You two are everything that's wrong with a workplace. Always looking out for only yourself. If you keep the idea to yourself, where in the world are you going to develope it? In your basement?
Yeah Seagate s---s because it is full of this "me first" mentality. Our execs s--- because of it, the company is failing because of it and people are losing their jobs because of it. If you hate the company that much, leave and find a place that values you can compensated you for your ideas, input and effort.
The toxic people waiting for a payoff are only making the situation worse and sinking the ship quicker.
If i had a ground breaking idea that would benefit seagate so that it would put them first technology wise and first business wise ...i would keep it to myself.Keep your ideas to yourself becaelseif you dont you will get no thanks from seagate and you know that someone else will get the praise and rewards.
