We need a better discussion space...

Need your help...

Since we have a thriving Mattel board here that often discusses things beyond layoffs (often funny and witty, sometimes informative) I would like to see if I can put together a list with features that we may want to request from layoff.com.

I will reach out directly to them - I want to make sure I capture as many things as possible before I do so.

I have started the list and will add any suggestions you guys have - I guess collectively we'll be more thorough.

Some of my ideas:

separate, non layoff related space (separate layoff discussions from general discussions)
ability to format text
ability to add images and video (e.g., can we embed youtube videos)?
ability to have a username and login (e.g., i want to be able to see all my previous posts)
ability to like or dislike posts
ability to filter and sort posts (now they give us only 'active posts' filter, i think filtering out posts by date, number of likes, etc. would be great)
ability to see all posts of a particular user (some users post very valuable info, i'd like to be able to track or follow them)

Please chime in if you have different ideas. I am not really good at this but I think we should be able to improve it at least a bit...

Another anonymous site? I don't know, but I must say that although all this doom and gloom and number crunching is mildly interesting, I do miss the far earlier posts with all the salacious gossip and steamy details as to "who was doing who", caught in the act, etc., etc.

Could someone please interject an occasional bit of said gossip, just to liven up this otherwise dreary and depressing site. Come on, we're not all dead yet, I'm guessing. Something's gotta' be going on on your floor, in your cubicles, meeting rooms, whatever. Especially over there in the HTC with all those Bohemian, free-thinking, prance around Burning Man topless, creative types. We'd love to hear.

Keep clues to perp's ID's not too obvious as it appears a number of earlier, similar posts where they were more easily deciphered, or flat out obvious, have been eliminated from this site.

You need to spend more time doing your work, rather than trying to improve TheLayoff.com. Remember, if what you do it not tied to delivering revenue, then you do not have a place here.
